Tag Heuer 2000 Re-Lume - Where to get this done in Toronto?

My TAG Heuer 2000 series watch is about 15 years old and has very weak lume. Where in Toronto can I have it reapplied? The watch is out of warranty, so I'd prefer to not take it to TAG in order to keep the price reasonable.

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

These things are usually sent out to a dial specialist. The odds of finding such a person in Toronto are fairly slim.

If searching for dial restoration or dial relume doesn't find anything, I may have a few bookmarked... but I have so many things bookmarked and the organization is deficient so see what you can come up with first before putting me through the ordeal

Resurrecting this thread because I had EXACTLY the same question (even down to the town!)

Would love a re-lume on the dial.... just don't know where to get it.... would an AD send it away for me? What price should I expect?

Hi, First you'll have to figure out how to get the dial off the movement. Generally a watchmaker does that because first the case has to be opened, the movement removed, the hands removed and then the dial removed from the movement.

If you can get that far, there are two dial refinishers that I can recommend, but they're in the USA. Does that work?

For an absolute top notch job, Kirk Rich Dial in California isn't cheap, but they are darn good, producing refinished/lumed dials that in my opinion are as close to factory new as you can get. KRDial.com is the way to reach them.

As a second, less expensive choice, I can recommend Kirk Dial of Georgia. Excellent work, just not as 'fine' as the first recommendation. I don't know if they have a web site...a Google search will answer that. Much less expensive, but not much less in quality.

I've used them both for different watches of different types (high end + medium priced) and have been happy with both for what they offer.

Of course, if it's just the hands that need reluming, a good watchmaker can order stock hands that will come close in a similiar style (or if they have a TAG account, they can order factory replacements). That way, the lume will be new on the hands and the dial can be faded. The watch supply houses generally offer decent replacements for a skilled watchmaker to install.

Good luck with the dial and with customs if you go this route.
