    Tag Heuer 4000 - links

Not sure if this is in the right place - please move if not.

I have just bought a Tag Heuer 4000 full size in excellent condition, I could ideally do with another 1 or 2 links for the bracelet. It does fit but I would prefer it to be slightly looser, I couldn't resist as the price was fantastic. Bracelet number is - BB0517

    Cheers

Links to vintage bracelets are always a real pain. Most Swiss vendors stock them for about 20 years. Most Japanese vendors stock them only while they are selling them new. After that you are down to donor watches and occasional catches on eBay.

I once posted a need for a specific Kreiger bracelet link on the WUS straps forum. Much to my surprise many months later a member contacted me with an offer for free links! (I sent him a bottle of Wild Turkey! ... or did I? Hummm... sending liquor through the US mail is illegal... I guess I didn't do that... LOL)

The real problem on bracelets are watches where a non-standard link is necessary for case attachment. Those can't be converted to straps - my normal solution.

"The watch has to be surrounded by a history.
You need more than just a great design. You need to create an atmosphere around the product.
Who is the company behind it? Why are they using this material?
People need to be able to identify the watch with themselves. It's based on emotion." - Ralph Furter

...that's just my opinion and I've been wrong before and will be again and might be now!

Re: Tag Heuer 4000 - links

I have just managed to purchase a complete bracelet on ebay from a seller in the US for $140 + $20 shipping which I thought was a very reasonable price. I may also be able to sell some of the links I have left over and re-coup a large percentage of the cost - which will help as I am currently negotiating a deal on a Tag for the wife.
