Found this on ebay. Really different style for Tag. Is this the real deal? Is a one off prototype kind of rare?

A site in England (RLT watches) had 100 of the cases, and offered to put one of several choices for hands and dial in the case, along with a cheesy quartz movement. I believe they sold for about $85 or so. The case was really good, but the rest was pretty poor - bad lume, poor timekeeping, low caliber finish. See this blog: http://paxman-wasting.blogspot.com/2...-rlt29_25.html
I bought two and sold the cases for parts after the innards failed twice - after one return to RLT...
Sure glad you contributed this info. I almost made an offer to the guy thinking this was quite a catch.

I see these fraken-watches from time to time on eBay. I have also seen listing with the case only or case matched with a dial from another TAG series.
This is kinda fun to decipher. Looks like a 2003 era TAG F1 Dial, non TAG hands, 2000 Classic Bracelet. I would hope they used a ETA F06.111. Can't tell how well the bracelet end links integrate with the chunky case, but its probably short. Caseback looks like VERY early Link series.
Thanks for posting, all.
Cheers,
David

$589? this guy is nuts! Not surprised at the disclaimer on testing water resistance.
