    Flieger Chrono Auto - Case # 597.10.141.1

Can someone tell me something about this watch. What years was it produced? Does it have the current movement? or at least a good movement. Is is good for several more years of service? What is the difference between the case number and the model number? Is there a serial number? If so where is it? Where is the best place to get it serviced (located in Oklahoma) - runs several minutes fast per hour and crown is hard to find the first position to set day / date? Any idea what this is worth? The small instruciton fold out I got when I bought it has almost no information. If there is somewhere to find all this type info I haven't found it yet. If so please point me in that direction.

Purchased new in 2006 while on a cruise. Had the two issues noted above. Wore it a week or two and been in the original box ever since. Interested in getting it working correctly and either wearing it or selling it.

Sorry for the large pictures. I did not realize they would show up so big when I posted. Needless to say and it very obvious that I am a newbie. Thanks for understanding. Please forgive.

I don't know much, but what I can tell you is that sure looks like a Fortis Flieger. The current model sells at my local AD for 3,000-3,500. I tried it on and was impressed by it all round. Other guys will be able to tell you more. Most of the common wisdom is that some autos just need to be worn to acclimate. Again, some one else will hook you up with more accurate info. (Search for the serial number on the site, several posts about this model.)

I agree with topher512 that is looks like a Flieger. It is a fine looking watch and while I don't know specific answers to your questions about your watch, I can recommend Nesbit's Service in Seattle, WA. If you watch is off that much and has been sitting for that long I think I would send it to Nesbit's for a good general cleaning and lube. Keep us posted please. Cheers, Bill P.

Thanks for the replys. After lots of searching ...

I think I figured out several of my questions. Did I get these correct?
    1. I found the serial number on the case at the 6 o'clock postion.
    2. I figured out the following about the case number.
      1. 1st number is the model = 597 = Flieger
      2. 2nd number is the case finish = 10 = Brushed
      3. 3rd number is the movement = 141 = 7750
      4. 4th number is the Fortis internal version of the watch = 1 = first version.
    I still have these questions?
    1. Can I detemine the year of manufacture from the information above? If so how?
    2. Any recommendations on where could I purchase a Fortis SS bracelet to match the brushed finish to replace the leather strap?
    3. Any additional recommendations for service locations?

Hi Ice, thats a good watch you got mate!! so 1. send a mail to fortis info. com and they will reply (usualy quite fast) and they will tell you the age of the watch by the serial no.
    2. The steel braclet can be baught several places, but just to let you know they are f..kin exspensive Fortis Watch Straps and Parts
    3. The movmnet you have in the watch is an ETA valjoux 7750 chrono which is a very good solid swiss movment, and is used world over by all top brands... so getting it serviced is a piece of cake if you can't find an AD from Fortis, just take it to good watch dealer Omega, Tag, Bell & Ross ( all run on 7750) or other watch dealer who you know and they will do a full srevice for you.

Take care of the watch mate it is a cracker.
