Quite excited about this (Flieger Chrono)

My next watch is going to be a pilot type chrono, and so I have been through the usual Sinn / Damasko type suspects. To be honest I ignored Fortis until I discovered that this is the original modern pilot chrono, the one that inspired Sinn / IWC / Damasko / Steinhart and everyone else.

Nearly 25 years of uninterrupted original design, 5 years before IWC's effort, yet Fortis is such a "quiet" brand with so little advocacy that I didn't know that until now. Any other brand would have shouted about that for all it was worth.

    Unbeatable originality
Unbeatable legibility, 40mm but all dial

I really am in love with this, and my long search has I think finally come to an end. I think this tremendrous history and design stability needs more WIS recognition.

Some interested netting rather than great academic work!

The Fortis had been in production since 1989, and at age 20 in 2009 it received a Busse long lasting design award.

There is obviously a tradition of aviation chronos from Hanhart, Tutima and Lemania, however in terms of the modern flieger (of which there are lots!) Fortis seems to kick the tradition off in 89.

IWC clearly have a huge history with the mark, however there first mechanical pilot chrono was 1994, although a quartz version existed in 88.

If I am wrong I am happy to be corrected
