Picture Up close to a King

As you may or may not know, one of the members over on the Breitling forum, Spacer, is an RAF Search and Rescue pilot and he was good enough to organise a trip round his 'company car' this weekend. Here's a couple of my pics and some better ones by Davey Vermaak, another 'Breitling Boy' can be found here Boulmer The Report.

Spacer (or Flt Lt Spacer to give him his 'full' name) and RAF Boulmer's two Sea Kings. Crews from Boulmer have been involved in several high profile operations including the recent Morpeth floods and the Greyrigg rail crash.

Dave (DaveyVermaak) emerges. You can tell he's hating the whole experience, not!

A close up of the on duty aircraft. Only a few minutes after this picture was taken it took off on a call, crewed by what Spacer would have you believe are 'just ordinary guys'. Maybe, but doing extraordinary things. Incidentally, those white antenna on the front are the ones that monitor 121.5, the frequency that Breitling Emergencies transmit on and they have no plans to disconnect them anytime soon, so don't believe the scare stories!

The buck doesn't even slow down here.

Yes, thanks for the photos mate!

I love the old Sea Kings, they are still doing a great SAR job here in Norway and are in the news every couple of weeks.

They must be nice to fly on a hot day with that large airconditioner above the cockpit! (joke)

    cheers,

    -John
