    Breitling Superocean Steelfish

Hey guys...my first post, sorry if I seem very new to this (because I am).

I bought this watch off Ebay...it had just been serviced, came with full papers. It is starting to run very fast. I have clipped two pictures...every steelfish picture I find has different numbers

    Re: Breitling Superocean Steelfish

Hello matthockey09, I believe you have purchased a "Superocean" 'classic' as opposed to a more current 'steelfish'. Nothing wrong in that just confusing when trying to do research on your watch and talk about it with fellow collectors.

The watch looks fine and well worth having in one's collection.

The movement sounds like it may have been magnetized. The result of that, usually, means that the balance spring is sticking to itself, in effect, shortening its period thus causing the watch to run 'fast'.
Its quite straight forward to demagnetize a watch if you have the right tool. Any good watch maker should be able to do it for you. If it is then you have a quick fix to your problem. If not then the balance spring may be kinked and this needs professional intervention.

You might review this article for more information on the model..

    Re: Breitling Superocean Steelfish

Thanks guys! Sorry I've been MIA.

It was sold as a Steelfish and interestingly enough has a steelfish booklet inside (I'll post pics). I thought I did my homework but you're exactly right...looks like an older superocean. Either way, I love it.

    Thanks again
