Don't believe me or anything I say just because I say it ... do your own research , ask questions and get answers , find out what you can , do background searches on the (vintage) watch you're interested in AND on the seller , only if you do all of that you will be able to determine the authenticity of the watch you're interested in
same for me, my watchmaker of choice is in the US too (happens to be the same), though some watchmakers in the UK come highly recommended by some fellow collectors.
Hello all,
I finally got some news from Breitling, after the watch was sent to Switzerland.
It's confirmed as a 1969 CHRONO-MATIC.
Total repair price is 1850€, and it will take up to 10 months!
I don't think the commercial value justifies it, but the sentimental value just might :)
Can anyone share an opinion on the matter?
thank you
Rui
Hi Rui, only you can really make that decision but if it were my dad's, I'd repair it in an instant. 1850Euros for a watch that could well last another 40 odd years seems a pretty good deal to me. And a classic to boot.
The 10 months turnaround is a little steep but you can start saving your pennies.
Cheers,
Capt
There are no pockets in shrouds
I would URGE you to look for a second opinion regarding the repairs, not trying to judge the emotional value of this watch, but this is way above what a complete restauration should cost !

Keep in mind that the watch is not even working, and they are suggesting several replacements.
That looks complicated to do, since the watch is now on Switzerland :) !!
Could I ask someone for an estimate without actually sending the watch?
Any suggestions on who to contact?
Any idea what could be a correct price?
Thank you again for all the help
regards,
Rui
Get a seagull manual wind and replace the original one movement.. The cheapest restoration possible option.

-Tag Heuer 1500
-Bulova Marine Star 98C71
-Deep Blue 1k Tac Orange
That is singularly the worst piece of advice I've ever had the misfortune to read on this forum.
