Re: Dive Watch Rally **Update** SEARAIDER 2007

    Subkrawler,
I decided to go cheap. Since nobody makes a waterproof case for my Canon G-5 (an oldy but a goody). I bought a sony dsc-w80 and the sony case to match. My thoughts being if it leaks I'm only out a couple hundred dollars. The Sony had pretty good reviews and it seems to take fairly good pictures, still learning (I'm not only slow but also old). Still waiting for the filter to knock out the green tint from underwater pics.
    Take care, Randy

I just checked out your new camera. Tell me you didn't buy a pink one. Looks like a nice, compact rig. Perfect for snagging those underwater wrist shots

I'll be bringing my camera rig too. We're going to be posting so many underwater pics, that we'll all end up getting banned.

    Have a nice day.

Whse, that should be a great camera! I've got a DSC W70, and really like it. The Carl Zeiss lens is super, and with mine, macro shots from as close as I think 2cm (or is it 1.5cm?) are possible. Great for those above water watch shots!

Now, where'd you get the housing, I need to check to see if they make one for mine. Though I will have my hands full getting back into diving the first day or two, I'd love to try my hand at U/W photography, at least on shallow dives (do you have a light set up for the camera?).

BTW, I"ll be throwing my hat.... er, credit card into the ring tomorrow. That will leave 8 slots (Jason, you NEEEEED to go on this trip Or, send Scottie. With your watches ).
    Regards, T Bone.

    Subkrawler,
No, I looked at the pink one but I thought it would clash with my 750 Pro . So I settled for the plain old silver one.

    T Bone,
I bought the Sony marine pack (MPK-WB) they claim it's good to 132 ft. got it from a Amazon site for about $130 plus shipping. It's designed to allow access to all controls and seems to be fairly solid construction. I'll be checking out the underwater capabilities next month. I can't find anyway for external strobes to connect and they don't list any as an option for one. I'm real curious to find out if I can take decent shots without extra light.
I looked and couldn't find a underwater case for your camera by Sony (they do make one good to 10 ft). Ikelite makes one but they want $300 for it (but it is good to 200 ft).
Be looking forward to meeting you guys in Nov. Take care Randy

How about you blow off four more days of work and come down with us? That way you'll be right there to make sure that we don't get out of hand taking pictures.

    Have a nice day.

Heck, they both need to come. You guys can't leave it to us, to have all the fun.

We also need to get Doc Pete down there. How cool would it be to dive with the legend?(and I really want to check out the Conquistador)

    Have a nice day.

"Bump". Okay, I know this is a sticky, but I just wanted it to "light up" for a bunch of y'all.

Just wondering, is anyone thinking of joining us?? Or are you gonna leave all that diving (and Doxa T-Shirts!) to the four of us? So, who's contemplating a spot, hmm?
    Regards, T Bone.

I'd love to join you, but the missus and I are planning to go in December, and we're not taking junior, so we should have more time for diving.

I'm looking forward to the stories and the pictures though. I've haven't been diving on the east end, we usually wind up in West Bay or North Sound, but it might be worth the effort this time.
