Dive Watch Rally

My past trip to the East End of Grand Cayman got me to thinking.....would it be possible to have a dive watch rally in a dive location so we could check out each other's collections and then dive with our watches the way they were actually intended to be used?

It could be official or unofficial just depending on who stepped up to the plate. I'm sure there would be some liability concerns but if Harley Davidson can host official rallies and not get hung out to dry legally, then I don't see why it couldn't happen with dive watches. Maybe DOXA would like to incorporate this type of event into their marketing plans.

I know I'd be all over an event like this...would anybody else?

Ice diving....sure why not?! Maybe to debut a DOXA 750T SeaIce(I know it would be lake diving but SeaIce sounds cooler than LakeIce)

Seriously though, somewhere like Grand Cayman would be perfect for several reasons.

1)They sell DOXAs there along with about every other watch brand you can think of.

2)Diving is first rate with healthy reefs and walls, tons of fish, turtles, rays...

3)Plenty of crystal-clear water, making UW photos easy.

4)Easy to get to from the US and very US friendly.

5)Oh yea, and they sell DOXAs there too!!

So only two people in? There has to be more out there.

Sounds cool. That's where I did my open water cert dives WAY back in 1988 (Don Foster's). If Doxa would sponser, it would be great. Even nondivers and those looking to get certified in the beautiful shallow crystal clear water. And then maybe some wall diving for the Doxa wearing crew, oh yeah!:gold

Good call regarding the non-divers, they can get certified while there

It would be really great and unique if DOXA were to step up and sponsor an even like this. I know of no other watch company doing any official events of this nature.

When?

Not really sure....As far as diving conditions go, I understand it's pretty sweet year round.

For me I would like to plan it for sometime in the fall. The GUE Cayman Quest trip that I just got back from is always in the spring. Since I would attend both events, pushing the watch rally up into the fall would work better for me.

How about the rest of you?

OK, so far we have Scottie, Doug, Chris, Isthmus, Poorman and myself.

Six isn't a bad start since 12 to 14 is what you normally put on one boat.
