So, did you ever get a chance to go by Hollywood Divers?
Ty - going there after the holidays with my bonus check in hand, saying "give me as much as you can for this."

    Cheers,

Switched the dive for Tuesday morning (shore dive off Malibu). Not to bring religion into it, but there are advantages to being Jewish on Christmas.

I'll put in a full report once I get home. I'm anxious to see how the 5000 performs in real-life compared to the 750.

    Cheers mates,

    Avi

I know how you feel. It's kind of like me on Super Bowl Sunday.

T- minus 9 months and counting........
Sent Leslie an e-mail and working out the details. Not ready to do the bubbly-bubbly (scuba) just yet. A deck hand on the SS Doxa maybe. I do not want to miss this trip because I am unwilling to breath canned air!

Canned air is a wonderful thing. Especially when it's hyper-oxygenated and topped off with a bit of helium.

Glad to know you're still with us, but resistance is futile. You want scuba, you need scuba, you are scuba...you just don't know it yet.

Do you talk like Donald Duck w/a bit of helium?
9 months is a long time and you may be right; until then, I'll hold my breath and think about it. Also, wanting & needing another Doxa(Blue). Orange is not working for me and the 1000T Carib. is growing on me (maybe w/a little color).

If you speak immediately after surfacing without taking a breath of fresh air first, then yes....you get a bit of the "Donald Duck" effect. You're typically only using a Helium percentage of 30%, so it doesn't last past the first breath of fresh air.

I'm hoping the next nine months fly by. In the mean time, see if a dive shop will let you "try scuba". One of the dive shops around here will let you get in the pool with full gear, just to see what it's like. I'm sure other shops do the same as a way of generating interest. My shop charges $25 and it's more to cover the dive master's time to gear you up and supervise you in the water for an hour.

    Have a nice day.

Subkrawler, Has the trip filled up yet? Man I really want to go and possibly bring my lady friend but Nov 08 is a long way away when planning around the Army's schedule. We really have no Idea what we will be doing around that time but im going to try and figure it out. Just to confirm, 12 divers but non divers dont count in that just for the lodging and everything else correct? I know this has been discussed here I just wanna double tap the issue. Who know, maybe when I get home I can get her certified somewhere in Nashville TN and she'll dive too. Thanks guys and thanks Sub for the pics on the Dive watch forum. I saved them on my desktop. Take care guys, Brian.

    Brian,

The trip has not filled up yet. There are five spots left on the boat, and yes you're correct, the "twelve" refers just to divers. There's no limit on non-divers(up to a point)

I totally understand about Nov. being a long way out. Ocean Frontiers understands too, that's why they have a liberal cancellation policy. You have all the way until two weeks prior to the event, to cancel with a full refund. So let's say on Oct 15th, Uncle Sam decides that he has better plans for you in November, all you have to do is let Lesley know, and you get everything back. If you do have to cancel, I'm sure there'll be a waiting list with guys just hoping the Army has better plans for you.

Glad you liked the pics. Hopefully they'll tide you over until Searaider '08. Then you can get some shots of your own.

    Have a nice day.
