Long time reader, first time poster!

    Hi All WUS members,

I've been reading the forums for awhile now and thanks to you guys, I've found out a lot about B&R and have now decided to expand my search for not just a BR-01 but also an 02. In fact, since I have an 01 "homage" Wenger, I'm thinking I might just go for an 02 so that it really feels like I'm getting something different. Of course I realize an 01 feels many times better than my simple homage watch, but an 02 is truly different, both in look and feel. Anyways, I finally got to try on both the 01,02, and 03. Quickly realized that the 03 was too small. Thought about getting the 01 right then and there because it was what I wanted, which is a Carbon with Rubber Strap, but I realized that it was a bit more than I was budgeting (also saving for a Panerai, most likely 312N). So now I have my eyes on the 02 SS - thanks for all the wrist shots!

So, here's kind of my question - what is the typical "deal" on a B&R 01 vs 02? My AD was willing to give me $700 off the in stock 01. I didn't ask about the 02, but I'm thinking I may want to order an 02 SS since I really like the shape and it's more what I'm budgeting in the meantime. Is $700 off MSRP a killer deal? Does that seem possible on the 02 as well? Do dealers sometimes give you a better deal if they order it for you? I know that a "good deal" for some is paying full retail, but I'm just wondering if there's an "average" discount on these things. And even though I didn't buy a watch today, my sales rep gave me an issue of Revolution! Awesome magazine! Thanks in advance for reading and I'm new to the watch thing, so please pardon the ignorance!

This is all depending on where you are really. In someplaces with few dealers and with ill-informed customers, ADs are able to charge through the nose and get away with it. Savvy buyers (in Australia) know that only too well.

$700 off a $3500 watch is a 20% discount. That's quite fair. I'd think that a dealer would give a better discount on in stock than a special order. He wants to move his goods. But once he gave it to you on one, he'll be forced to on the other.
BTW, I just landed an 02 a couple weeks ago after being an 01 owner for almost two years. Go 02!!! They're really great and comfortable. I also went SS and I just love it!!
One question, why 312 and not 111? I've been teetering between those two.

Well, I've still been thinking this through as well. I like that the 312 has an in-house movement, as I've heard they make for a better long term investment. However, I've seen a 312 in the flesh and something looked a bit off about it...maybe the case thickness? I've seen the 111 and the 112 (I think) and they just seem better proportioned. I have yet to try one on because I've so far only tried on the Ferrari Panerais, only because I worked for Ferrari. So basically, I think I'd need to try them both on. What's the difference between the "Historic" and "Contemporary" lines? Is it domed vs non-domed glass? There's something about the hands too that I like more on the 111...more basic I guess - somehow more classic looking though. Anyways, I'm rambling - back to B&R - I will probably place an order with that discount, just waiting to hear back from another dealer. Thanks for the input!

Staying on topic, here's a couple wristies of my 02

Getting back off topic, the 312 is automatic with date. That's what draws me to it. The 111 is "historical" meaning classic PAM dna. I love the look (and the small seconds is a must, no 112 for me) but I can't stand winding a watch and I find myself using a date function regularly. But yet, it's the date that turns me off to the 312, so go figure.

Nice wrist shots! Yeah, I'm getting very close to placing an order. I've also thought of seeing if a dealer in Portland will order me a watch and then I can drive down there and get it tax free... :D but yeah, something about the dial on the 312 is not very..."pretty"...maybe? I definitely understand wanting the seconds hand, I like that the movement is COSC. If only the 177 came in SS!!!
