    What movements in B&R?

I'm relatively new to B&R and have a BR02 on its way to me....can't wait.

Anyhow I'm struggling to find out about what movements B&R use other than the fact that it's a Swiss movement.
Is this a guarded secret or do people here know what movements go into B&R watches?
    Watch list:

    , Seiko MM300 SBDX001, Seiko Orange Boss SKA291P1, Casio G-Shock M5600

The BR01/03 use the ETA 2892 (hence the model designation...BR01-92). Its kind of up in the air for the BR02. Some people think it might be the ETA 2892 but others think that it is probably the Selitta SW200, which is a very nice movement, which is a cloned and improved version of the ETA 2824.

They seem very hush hush about alot of things....I guess it adds to the mystique of the brand

I think its also a French thing. Why shout about things, you know? My wife is French, as well as many of our friends, and it seems to be a bit of a cultural thing. Perhaps thats it..

    Re: What movements in B&R?

The BR02 uses the selitta version of the ETA 2892-2A.. there isnt a clone for the 94 yet so the BR02 chrono uses the original ETA.. hence the huge price difference. The Selitta is a much cheaper movement to source, but that has nothing to due with inferior quality.. its just cheaper. Selitta made several parts for ETA so they no the movement very well and even added improved it i suppose.. by adding an additional jewel to the movement. I believe Selitta was since bought by rolex, but its been very hush hush.. so I guess you could say the watch now has a rolex owned movement inside. Rolex thought this movement was good enough for their Tudor watches so thats a big vote of confidence.

Original B&R movements include the B&R jump hour, power reserve, the instrument tourbillon, and the Grand minuteur. All of these exclusive movements are of the highest quality and comparable to the very best watches... hence the $56,000 entry price of the Grand Minuteur

The Sellita SW200 is more or less cloned. Sellita makes very, very quality movements, and are certainly up to the level of ETA. I think that people assume that because they're not ETA, they produce inferior products. This is not the case. Like I said in my previous post, because of the ETA patent on the 2824 has run out, Sellita has taken ETA's design and actually enhanced it. My BR02 runs within 5 seconds a day and can most likely be regulated to within 1 second a day. There is nothing to fear with this movement...

    Re: What movements in B&R?

If sellita movements are cheaper than ETA movements then how does B&R justify the price of the BR02? (not that I'm negating the movement or the watch in any way)

The prices are not far off from the BR01 and the BR02 is much more sophisticated case, with HE valve, internal bezel, 1000M water resistance etc... have you seen the price of the chrono? $7500.. thats a $3000 jump in MSRP for the ETA 2892-2A. B&Rs plan is definately to remain exclusive and not flood the market with discounted watches.. this is ultimately a better strategy then omega or tag have taken..and its why I see them getting passed up eventually
