Aldo Magada resigns as Zenith CEO

JC Biver to take over as interim CEO. I read this elsewhere but have yet to see an official press release.

Damn shame! The Zenith lineup has, overall, gone down the right path in recent years (just as under JF Dufour). I hope that this will not affect the collection or pricing (both not left unscathed by Nataf!).

Looking at Hublot, I hope that Biver won't force Zenith down that road.....!! Let's hope they find a suitable replacement CEO quickly.

"The decision was one reached in consensus with Mr. Jean-Claude Biver, who agreed that the brand as a whole needed a hard long look at its recent management practices in order to take on the challenges that lay ahead."

Shorthand for getting sacked? All is far from well at Zenith, that is the message.

Hasn't Biver previously stated that he was going to step up his role at Zenith? My understanding is that he devotes his time to a particular brand every few years and that he'd commented that he was going to focus on Zenith next. Perhaps this is part of that renewed attention.

That's the road Zenith has already been on for a couple years, and it's the reason they've been more successful lately. It's all about changing from a watch brand to a luxury lifestyle brand. Hence partnerships with Range Rover, Cohiba, DGR, Rolling Stones... None of which have anything to do with watches but everything to do with creating a particular (exclusive/luxury) brand image.

I agree with Dan - and absolutely am not sure that relationships with other brands spanning a somewhat narrow and 'trendy' definition of Heritage, lifestyle tobacco smoking and '70s rock stars - really creates a lifestyle message in tune with what Zenith stands for - more a sense of urgency on the part of the Zenith brand to try to define themselves through a hotchpotch of others, without the confidence of being really clear in saying exactly who they are. What does Zenith stand for today? Beyond the obvious watch related values, I am completely lost.

I'm assuming that'll still happen given it must be pretty much ready already if they were on track with it for Basel? I'm guessing 72+ hr reserve, hacking, larger movement for wider spacing of chrono dials and creating space for the hacking mech?
