A small find is still a find

Found this at a local internet auction site. Interest was low and I put in a bid at the last second. A somewhat unusal Movado Zenith "Museum". White gold electroplated case (31-32 mm) and stainless steel back. It is in a fantastic shape and there are hardly any marks on it showing its age. Movado strap that is ill fitting but with a Zenith buckle that probably was delivered with the watch (can not know for sure but it is period correct anyway). Zenith crown. I guesstimate this watch to early to mid seventies. Cal 1730 or 1740 movement. A small find is still a find. After a service and the fitting of a nice alligator strap it will be handed over to my girlfriend.
    Best regards

Congratulations!! Brunner/Pfeiffer-Belli have a picture of one like that with a (Zenith) Cal. 1110 inside. They also show a similar gent's watch with a Cal. 2552C with the date in the middle of the "sun" at 12:00. Both are signed only "Movado" at the bottom. It will be interesting to see what crops up in yours.

Thank you! It will be very interesting to open it and check what movement lurks inside. There seem to have been some different calibers thru the years. It will take some time as other projects have higher priority but I will come back with verified results eventually. Any more suggestions out there? Maybe we should start a betting on it.....

It will be very interesting since it should reveal what the Cal. 355 (or 35.5) is - cf. reference number on the back! We can then (get sempervivens to) enter it in our list:

Zenith '70s model codes : movement numbers

Did some research and found some fairly trustworthy info right here in Sweden - and I think my "1730 or 1740" bet just went up to a lead. Have a look at this link - I hope it is OK as it is an old ended auction. It is a very similar watch to mine except for being yellow gold electroplated instead of white gold as mine. Ref 20 0520 355 instead of 21 0520 355.
    Described as a cal 1740.

PS - edit - that auction house has watchmakers among their watch experts so the info is more worth than other "net auctions" where the owner gives the info.

Yep - that's the one. So, a Cal. 35.5 is a Cal. 1740 - must edit the thread to add the extra info.....
