    The Steinhart Experience

My Steinhart Experience thus far has been stellar. It's been just over a week and I'm on the cusp of placing my order for an Aviation Basic, and an extra strap or two. Having exchanged emails, and being assisted by Sabine, I am very pleased.

I would enjoy hearing from the rest of you. I invite you to share your experience with us. Please tell us what model watch or watches you have, how long you've owned your Steinhart(s), and anything else you'd like to share. Thanks!

    Cheers...

    Re: The Steinhart Experience

I can only agree with all the good things said about Steinhart watches and their CS. I used to own a Triton, the first version, which I bought pre-owned. There had been at least two owners before me, but the watch was still in pretty good condition and still under warranty. Note that not many watch companies have transferrable warranties.

Well, there was a small problem when operating the crown on the watch, so I contacted Günther, he told me to send them the watch to get the crown replaced, and so it went.

But the first thing I did when I received the watch again was to change the strap, and I managed to strip the threads on one of the screw bars. I contacted Günther again, asking for the price of a pair of new bars, but he told me not to worry, so he sent them for free. What other watch company would ever send something for free, that's not included in the warranty? Certainly not Rolex or Omega, that's for sure...

I loved the watch, but after the honeymoon, I decided it was a bit too large for me, so I let it go. Still miss it, though...

One thing's for sure though: I will return to Steinhart! Their Nav-B II Chrono is simply stunning!

But the raising funds will be the hardest part, esp. since I have a constantly growing collection of vintage Seikos to tend for...

    Cheers!

    Great story and photos.

In my case it will be the opposite, I love big watches as I have a big wrist, therefore I'm truly looking forward to this experience.

    Thanks for posting!

    Cheers...

    Re: The Steinhart Experience

I’m posting this update on my Steinhart Experience. Thus far, I’m very impressed at the exemplary experience I am enjoying thanks to Sabine at Steinhart. Her communications have been very timely, and she has been very helpful with some important aspects of this transaction, such as assisting me in establishing the correct strap size. Typically I require a larger than average strap, as I have an 8”+ wrist. I’ve found that in general, watches that come with bracelets are long enough for me, whereas watches that come with straps are not. Therefore this is a very important issue to deal with.

Early this morning I received an email from her saying my payment had been received and then just less than an hour later another email saying the watch has shipped. A very impressive performance, that is a testimony to their diligence in processing and filling orders quite quickly. About seven hours ago the FedEx tracking number was issued, so I just checked it. According to the FedEx report the watch is due tomorrow at 10:30am. So, needless to say, I’m quite pleased and very eager to take delivery of my new Steinhart Aviation Watch.

    Cheers…

    Update:

I'm happy to report that my new Steinhart Aviation watch has made it's way from Germany to the USA via FedEx in fine fashion. No delays thus far, the excitement builds....as the FedEx site reports that my watch is at the sort facility just 12 miles from my home. I'm so excited!

I've taken the morning off to be here and sign for the package which is due around 10:30am. I plan to keep you updated and post pictures of the new acquisition tomorrow.

    Cheers...

    Re: The Steinhart Experience

My new Steinhart Aviation Basic Watch, arrived yesterday right on schedule. The Bad News is:

    > It was delivered with a strap that was too short, thus I am unable to wear my new watch.

This was a shock as I had previously spent many hours exchanging emails with them prior to the purchase, in which I clearly explained that I have an 8” wrist, and a standard strap will not fit me.

    > When I opened the box I was shocked to find the strap was brown, and not black as it was supposed to be.

The watch is pictured on their web site with a black leather strap, and it’s clearly spelled out in the description of the watch.

    > Upon removing the watch from the presentation box I noticed a scratch on the left side of the case, another huge disappointment.

I sat down and wrote an email to them yesterday explaining the problems, and now after over a days time, they have not responded to me.
Because it's now after 8 PM Friday in Germany, I am left hanging all weekend wondering just what will happen? And yet when they sent me the invoice for payment I responded within an hour, immediately sending my payment according to their request.

I have performed, they have not.

So, that my friends is the story of my Steinhart Experience thus far. Unfortunately like many others that have had to return their brand new Steinhart Watches due to problems, I now belong to that group. The question racing around in my mind, is will I also end up being one of those that must return it twice to get what I paid for? Others have, I hope I’m not one of them.

Well mate, as the fellow mate in this forum had said Steinhart is providing a very customer-oriented service which I do agree so. But I think that Steinhart is growing and lack of quality control on their product, besides that I think that they are lack of employee to vet on this matter. However, someone in the forum mention that if the quality or round of quality-control increases and hire new employees on this matter, the price of Steinhart watches will definitely increase.

Besides, I know the pain and frustration you are having right now. Well, I hope that your watch will get fixed soon. And I hope the Steinhart quality control will somehow get better and which will be on par with their customer-oriented service.
