Steinharts future: homages or original designs

    Hi!
I would like to raise the question/discussion whether you think steinhart should focus on homage watches or develop their original designs.
The only steinhart I have so far is the Ocean vintage military, an homage to the almighty mil sub, if I had the funds (student) i would like to broaden my steinhart family with a flieger (to start with), also an homage.

I like these however, more than the other available homages out there. But I also like Steinhart's original design pieces. So I'm not sure with my own answer.

    What do you think?

Steinhart watches are still made by a 3rd party maker which is appointed by themselves. So, most likely the design will resemble with other watches that you may find in the market. However, to shift themselves from being labelled as another "hommage" makers, especially when Steinhart had gained it's popularity over the past few years, most likely, they will come out with designs on certain parts that are easy to manufacture, as well as easily to fit on ready made cases... such as the crowns or bezels, that might help in shifting the image of hommage away.

IMO they should continue as is. There is a good mix right now.

    Yes. That. Carry on.
Homage watches democratize history for the common wrist.

Looking at the catalogue of Steinhart now, i see that currently the only model/variant that is seriously absent is the Chrono variant from the TRITONs. Since there are both 3 handers and Chrono from the APOLLON, as well as the Nav B pilots, how about the TRITON?

+1 ORIGINAL. I wouldn't mind a more original balanced logo as well in favour of the current off centre five point crown which reminds me of the other brand not in a good way.

I would vote for a nice mix. Say about 75% original 25% homage.

Changing a logo is incredibly difficult.

Christopher Ward changed there logo which brought on hundreds of posts on there forums.

That being said, I would also like a new steinhart logo but seeing how it is so incorporated into the new Ocean 2 series the chance is close to zero.
Current: Steinhart Ocean 1 Black (very lonely)

Grails (realistic): Omega Aqua Terra 8500 -- Nomos Tangente -- Tudor Pelagos -- Zenith el Primero 36000VPH -- IWC Portuguese 3714-45

Re: Steinharts future: homages or original designs

Hmmm, this is what I wrote in another thread that has a similar slant to this one...

Steinhart are not shifting from their current design direction of homage styles & their own designs, simply expanding them. They are growing their own watch designs & they do have some awesome pieces in the works right now. Their homage models will always remain but it is what Steinhart will do to differentiate them that will make most appreciate Steinharts talents even more.

Steinhart is a young brand that have built up a solid base of models. Building on these is what will impress many as they grow.....
In addition I will say that Steinhart are working on their own designs with great vigor. Whilst they will continue to utilise existing models to do some of this they are certainly expanding into new designs that will not use their current common cases or designs. They are not scared to test new designs & will continue to use their design talent & exploit the boundaries offered by their affiliate case supplier.

There is plenty to look forward to & believe me, they already have many new ideas on the table....

I think that Steinhart has a market for both. Their watches are well-made. I think they need to continue to experiment with their "own" designs further.

    Lastly, Ocean Two GMT, please!!!
