    What's next for Steinhart?

Now that the Ocean 2 has been released I really feel like Steinhart has turned a corner, starting to consistently produce completely original timepieces of exceptional quality.... which raises a very important question to an addict like myself....

Whats next? Has anyone heard any murmurings, rumors, ideas... of what might be cooking in the Steinhart oven right now?

    Re: What's next for Steinhart?

It's a good question. One thing that should be considered is the development time for a unique design. I think Triton mentioned that it was a two year process for the O2? With that kind of a lead time I'd be surprised if we started to see an explosive flow of new designs this year. However, there are a couple of factors that will probably help the company continue to turn out new watches: The temporary moratorium on forum project watches and the upcoming improvements to Steinhart's infrastructure. I'd imagine that just being liberated from producing so many custom watches will give Steinhart some much needed breathing room.

Personally, I like surprises. The less I know about an upcoming model the better, which is why I never ask. The way the O2 was revealed made its launch an anticlimactic moment for me. It's far more fun to open my email and find a new and unexpected watch announcement in my inbox than it is to read for months on end people asking "when will it come out?" I'm sure that Triton too would prefer that his designs be given a more dramatic unveiling.

Well...I hate to burst any surprise bubbles but the photos from Basel showed a le mans watch so i expect that at some point. Maybe this summer after the ocean 2 sales cool off. By the way, I love mine and don't at all see what people are angry about but I have the blue so no issues. I just want to say to Triton if he's looks at this forum....good work. The Ocean 2 is fantastic.

There's been a couple already posted in another thread, but I don't recall which one without performing a search:

    Steinhart showing At Baselworld

I think a better photo exists somewhere here too. I just hope this doesn't turn into a "when will the Le Mans be released" thread.

Agreed... and it seems to me that with the commitment to walking away from one-off forum specials... that there may actually be quite a bit more in the pipeline than just the Le Mans.

    Re: What's next for Steinhart?

What is next from Steinhart, I think the question should be 'will I need to buy another big watch box'....

Keep watching the forum, Facebook page & the website. However, as it has been in the past keep an eye out for the occassional & very subtle picture that may have a new model or updated model hidden in the background.... They are out there from time to time.

Uwe, hit the nail on the head, surprises are what make new releases & updates just that much more exciting for all so no hints from me sorry. Suffice to say, I am very excited about impending future releases for both new watch models & updates to existing models so you have plenty to look forward to. Plus the business itself is going to go through some very exciting changes & milestones over the coming 18 months so that alone should leave everyone with a keen eye for Steinhart anticipating some pretty awesome things...

Well this is a design that I have created. Obviously from the markings I would love for it to be a Steinhart. I initially brought this up with Riker but failed to update the images to him so I decided I'd give it to a larger audience to see how it would be received.

The face of the watch would have to be a very dark midnight Blue. Where the stars are there would be an appropriate hole punched out of the face. Underneath the face would be an entire lume dial so that it would create the illusion of depth while also providing lume for all the stars and comets. The hour hand is the north star. The minute had is the crescent moon and since i have various designs of the watch the crescent would either "cup" the numbers its on or sit lower on the hand and "cup" the north star as it passed it. The seconds hand would be the green comet with it's tail burning off and would have to be lumed and painted with great detail. The number font is definitely up for deliberation. I also threw an additional crown on the left side, considered having the full lumed dial underneath to be able to rotate to change the color of lume for some stars....just an idea.

As I told Riker I don't believe a watch designed like this has ever been attempted and if it's done correctly the watch would only generate "wow's". If it could be described in one word it would have to be Mesmerizing.

Any comments, suggestions, criticisms are definitely welcomed.

Also, if anyone would like to create this in photoshop, feel free by all means.
