I do not read Spanish, but that Laco 55mm was a Limited Ed (75 pieces). They used NOS Durowe D5 movements. It is now some years back they made it.
Today, Laco do make a 55mm Replica, that one has a ETA/Valgranges A07.111 movement, with the date function removed. That movement is about 36mm in diameter.

(note: Laco has still some parts for the D5 movement, so they can repair them with original parts)

    Update on the project:

I have sent the updated list of WUS members interested with all the information. There were some members who dropped out and others who were interested. The following edition numbers are still available:
    3,8,9,11,15,16,17,21,25,26,30,32,34,39,40,41,43,44 ,45,47.

I will wait to hear the next steps from Mr. Pfeiffer this week and post the update here.

    Cheers,
    Bhanu

Alright, I'm in. The temptation was too great. :)

I do wish we were going with 'real' heat blued steel hands, even with additional cost, but will settle for the painted blue as was decided (though based on other painted blue hands I have seen from other manufacturers, I think plain black would look better if proper blued steel is not an option).

While I have not seen painted blue hands in person, in pictures they look so darn fake. There really is no comparison with proper blued steel. In fact, proper blued steel can look black in many lighting conditions, whereas painted blue hands like what Archimede used on their LE, or like Steinhart uses on some models, just look like fake plastic hands. At least painted black hands aren't trying to be something they aren't. In all but direct light, real heat blued steel looks almost black, anyway.

It does seem strange to spend enough to get the watch 95% there, and stop short of 100% for what would be a relatively small cost. Then again, I'm obviously in the minority; perhaps what to me appears as an obvious difference, to others is barely noticeable.

I fully agree, and I am still hoping for the real blued hands to be possible for the Laco B.

I just wanted to double check: I sent my email to Bhanu yesterday morning with my order, but I just remembered that he was discussing having to pass the organization duties on to someone else earlier in the thread. Is there another member I should be contacting?

I believe that Bhanu has taken this into his own hands again.
