Steel blue hands get my vote every time.

With all this time and effort invested I don't like compromising on the details. The wait does not bother me nor does the price. In every hobby, the last 10% costs the most - that's what the point of diminishing returns is about and why watch collecting (and watchmaking I suppose) is such a diabolical pursuit.

This project has competitor. Joerg just posted Stowa's new LE with 2801 and massive caseback, powered by 2801 as well, with real steel blue hands, Euro 490

its not a bad competitor. If it had the proper crown and larger case like laco it would be a winner.

IMHO they very different project.

Mr. Schauer work is superior and he puts his own touch on the Stowa airman

However, this Laco project is cutomized and designed by WUS members to create as close as possible replica of the original Laco Baumuster A watch.

The Stowa Baumuster A has similar components but the dial, case, etc. is not historically correct.

Comparing my Stowa FO LE to Laco B LE, Stowa is far superior in quality and the design Mr. Shauer has created is so unique. Whereas, Laco does not have that finsihed movement but if you look at both watches, Laco looks more authentic.

But one thing you are absolutely right about is that forum members have a tough choice. I do not want to open a can of worms so I will phrase my sentence correctly: There is a healthy competition going on between Stowa and Laco since Mr. Pfeiffer left Stowa

I SEE PEOPLE HAVE TO CHOOSE ,MY 2 CENTS OPINION I PREFER THE BLUE PAINTED HANDS AND MASSIVE CASE BACK LIKE THE ORIGINAL. AND I AM PRETY SURE IN THE 40s THE HANDS FOR THE REEL BAUMUSTER WAS JUST TRITIUM AND STEEL.THE MOST IMPORTANTE IS TO BE THE NEAREST THAN THE ORIGINAL ONE.I DONT HAVE THE PRIVILEGE TO GET THE FIRST BAUMUSTER B, BUT THIS ONE I REALLY WANT TO GET AND NEAREST OF THE GENUINE ONE, NOT IN SIZE BUT CASE AND DIAL WILL BE VERY GOOD.
AND I SEE THE GUY WORK ON THE DIAL AND IS REALLY A PERFECT AND REALLY GGOD JOB. A TRUE LOVER OF HISTORICAL WATCH.THANKS

The 1940ies original had Blued steel and Radium containing luminous paint.
I do not know if the steel was HEAT or CHEMICALLY blued!!

Laco has changed the standard hands feature of Baumuster A project from black to chemically painted blue hands with our original design by Frank_be.

I will reflect this change in the order and quick reference post. The Baumuster A price will be 560 euros (10 euros more for the hands).

Sounds good!! "chemically painted blue" is that now chemically treated steel or painted brass? Sorry for getting confused. BTW, same for the B-type?

and i'm pretty sure that the painted blue hands will look very similar to the heated ones...

Will the shape of the minute hand be the same as the "frank-be LE" hand? I mean the replacement design he will soon submit the vectorfile for?

Yes, to my knowledge hour hands was the only difference.
