Great work, Bhanu! There has been support for a -narrow- white circle round the outer edge of the minute marks. Did that make it to draft specs or is that still to be decided?

Hi John, thanks for coordinating the separate hands option. Does anyone know if these hands be put on by any watch repairer or will the watch physically have to go back to Laco?

    Excellent work, Bhanu

Somewhat to my surprise, the Stowa FO LE revealed a very thin white circle around the dial where it meets the réhaut. It does add to the crispness of the dial print.

    Hi Bhanu

Great Job and a BIG Thank you. Any mention by LACO on the white circle linking the minute markers?

    Regards
    TA.

Any posibility for Laco to make both circles much thinner? The inner circle looks quite a bit thicker on the mockup than it should be! Has any of you guys noticed that?
Also, to be nitpicking, the dots should be slightly bigger.
I just cant wait to see the lume!

Did Laco agree to 2 circles? Perhaps I missed something here. And, well, I see your point and I commend your eagle's eye but I think the proportion and lines are clean and good on the mock-up. Once you make the inner circle a bit thinner then your dots will look thicker anyway, (how thick do you want 'em?) - and really are the dots "the 'point' of focus" of this "tool homage"? ... and well, I hope that we are not getting too nitpicky here. I am not the expert on this forum - just customer 6/50, so I yield to your wisdom and that of other keen-eyed experts. I am happy enough (actually I am delighted) with the dial. I'm eagerly waiting to see the drawing with the new crown. Bryan

    Good Morning All!
BKM! No, as far as I know, Laco has not agreed on the Outer Circle.
    Yet.
But I see no reason why they will not, due to the fact that we have redesigned (more or less) the whole dial compared to their current dials, and so far achieved a far greater historical accurency that they have
The reason for slightly larger dots is proportion (just as thinner inner circle) and the fact that they are the only element on the Inner Circle that will be lumed!
The size of a dot should be - large enough to cover the lower open area on number 5, if you see what I mean!
Check out that extremely beautiful Wempe earlier on this thread!
That dial is what I think we should try to achieve!
Are the Dots point of focus? Oh yes, one of them and very important, marks what hour it is!
I am definitly not an expert ( I know absolutely nothing about movements, watch mechanics etc etc) but I have a Laco B-uhr from the 40ies that is unmolested.
So I can compare, do measurements etc. That is my only "use" on this Project!
Me too look forward holding the finished piece in my hand!
The only thing I am worried about is the Next Project....
    Greetings Janne

Ps I am already thinking about Project 2.
I do have an idea. A very good one! But about that later!

I hope that Laco's process will allow them to refine the project watch dial as Janne suggests. The points he makes in his recent post are easily visable, Thin circle around the outside of the dial, Hour-circle same "thinness" as the outside circle. Dots to match historical examples. These kinds of accuracy are what we can and are trying to contribute. I think they represent the kind of refinement and attention to detail that Laco should, and most likely does wish to keep in their product line. Accuracy, and attention to detail is IMHO what separates the "men from the boys" in this business. Come on Laco, we love you guys; let's all get this thing right to the naked eye together.

And Good Afternoon to You Janne,
Well, I like your observations, and yes, that Wempe dial is impressive, but I confess: I am indifferent about the outer circle. I agree with you on all other points and I feel your passion.
Bruce, I do not think it is a "quality issue" (accuracy and all that) but a matter of preference whether we have the outer circle: I am not sure it adds refinement or definition. Perhaps others can lend their own view on this one.
As for the dots and "abit thinner" inner circle; well , yes, that, to my eye is an enhancement with perhaps historic significance ..., and refinement.
Bruce, as for the comment about "men from boys" - imho, Laco proves already to be "the man."
I don't post alot (I prefer a seat in the box away from the crowd) but I feel both a passion about this watch as well as an appreciation for those of you who expend much energy and time for its completion. Bryan

Re: LACO Pilot Special Edition (Forum Project Wach) - Discussion

Thank you for the nice comments

I exchanged few emails late last night with Mr. Pfeiffer.

He said these will be the final changes to the dial as we proposed in the overview thread. The final draft with crown will be done before end of this week. I will post the picture as soon as I receive. Lume, outer circle, and sand blasted case were all submitted. I have received confirmation on lume and outer circle.

Mr. Pfeiffer will be on leave for 2 weeks from this coming weekend so his goal is to complete the dial before end of this week.

The the ordering process starts next week.

    Cheers,
    Bhanu
