John! Have a look on my thread I started 19 January 2008 called "Laco B-uhr! You can see on the pic how it should be fixed. With the loose end pointing to the back.

    Good luck!

HMMM. Will not open. Just look on my profile/statistics, see what threads I started. As I said, 19 January 2008.
Last post on that thread was 22 January by Ron Engels. Page 6 of 8 if you go back on the PilMil forum

    #21 is home!

    My initial impressions:

Beautiful watch! And it's just the right size for my wrist. I have always liked the type B dial, and I'm just as pleased as can be with this watch.

I like the black, new pilot strap. With the perforations on the back, it seems like it will be a good summer strap. I'll probably put the brown old pilot strap on for tomorrow before I head to Vermont for the weekend. It'll probably look great as well.

The crystal has a really nice dome to it. If I get a chance tomorrow with some better lighting, then I'll try to catch it in a picture.

I really like the sand-blasted case. The hue of the steel and the shape of the lugs hearken back to the original.

The lume is very pleasing as well. The following picture was taken with about 1/2 second exposure:

This watch caused me to remove my Damasko DA36 from my wrist, which is really saying something!

Here's a zoom on the same picture:

Finally, it can't be said enough:

    Thanks, Bhanu!

    Lume shot

    Here's another lume shot:

To be fair, this watch has never seen sunlight on my wrist, so I charged the watch before this shot with about ten seconds under a lamp. This shot was about one second exposure, versus the previous lume shot I posted which was more like a half-second exposure and without the intensive charging.

Another note I would like to make is that the crystal is domed, but not flush with the case. That's why the outer dots appear in this shot. That is *not* extra lume on the outer parts of the dial!

    Here is another picture taken:

This was after about two seconds under a lamp--I just shook the watch a couple of times under the lamp. As you can see from the second hand, it's a little under a second exposure.

In any case, I never know how to interpret lume shots, and I don't expect anyone to know how to interpret these. I've tried to give info so you can give them some kind of weight, and I hope it helps.
    Cheers,

    Re: And They Start Arriving...

I started learning about watches because of the engineering elegance. What has kept my interest is the history. This watch, its connection to the past, and the process that this group has gone through to recreate a classic - that is what makes me love this watch. I think it's great. And I thank all of you for making it happen, and for teaching me about this classic along the way.

    My thoughts:
    - The dial printing is outstanding. Crisp and delightful. All of the work that went into the design of the dial was worth it. It just jumps out at me.
    - The lume pattern is awesome. I'm glad we changed that.
    - The case (and lugs) is tin-can-like. Usually I wouldn't like this but it significantly adds to the authenticity.
    - It needs blued hands. I will be looking forward to the new hands when they come.
    - The engraving on the side is understated, and very nice.
    - The brown pilot's strap is a bit much for me. I have a brown pilot's strap from Stowa that I'm wearing it on. It's my favorite of the bunch right now.
    - The crown is significantly nicer in person than I expected.

That is all. Thanks Bhanu, Laco, and everyone else. I'm proud to be a part of the project.

    Dave

    Re: Lume shot

    Hi -

    Nice lume shots.

The lume really lasts all night long (I wore it to bed and checked at ohdarkhundred this morning). Really well done, Lacher has done an outstanding job here...
