    Casio EFD1000 Anyone bought one?

Not a bad looking digital IMO, with a solid link bracelet.

No, but it's very high up on my wish list. I always overlooked this model because of the slightly awkward looks but it has a combination of features that makes it pretty much unique among the recent Casio releases (unfortunately it looks like it is discontinued but not since very long):
    - solid steel case
    - all digital
    - standard lugs
If you search for this combination you'll probably only find this one and vintage Casios from the 80s or 90s. With the end of production of the EFD-1000 I think Casio has no longer a steel cased digital with standard lugs in their whole range of watches. They are very cheap with the resin strap, too - 30€ online. I'm thinking about getting two - one to rock and one to stock. I will report back when I get one - will probably pull the trigger next week.

    cheers, Sedi

Ooops - forgot to report back on the EFD-1000. Quickly became one of my favourites - very comfy on a Zulu strap and great feature set, too. The display is a bit dim but if you're used to negative displays it's no biggy. Wrote a little review here:
Steel cased digitals: EFD-1000 and Citizen Promaster Windsurfing

Yes, I also thought about getting a second one and modding it - they're pretty cheap on ebay.

Re: Casio EFD1000 Anyone bought one?

Wow. I'm glad I saw this thread. I just ordered at an EFD1000. I haven't had time to mess with watches in a while and I just heard of this watch.

It is sort of tragic that I can only find it with a negative display, but I guess that will give me a reason to learn how to mod it to positive.

One of my complaints about Casio is that they stick a lot of their good modules in cases designed to have the resin crack or fail at the watch band connection. This sounds like it is a decent module and it is in a real stainless steel case that will accept a standard watch band!

I hope we can convince Casio to put out more steel cased digital watches. I realize the resin is probably a lot cheaper and more profitable, but I hope that they realize there is still a market for a durable and more dressy stainless digital.

Opposed to "nibbler" I think there never was a version with a positive display. There are a few more stainless steel Casio digitals (apart from the vintage pieces) with standard lugs - like the IRW-M200 - but that one is also discontinued unfortunately.
