Laughing Digital LED wristwatch loosing time, few seconds a day....

My new LED wristwatch is losing 4 to 5 seconds a day . I observed this after setting time to the exact minute. I bought this in a local market for approximately $4, so no compliments , just thought of sharing.

4 to 5 seconds a day is normal, actually very good, for cheap Chinese watches. I had one that lost 45 seconds a day.

Look at it this way, 150 years ago, you would have had the most accurate watch on Earth.

For a mechanical 4-5 seconds per day would be fine but even for a super cheap-o quartz 4 to 5 seconds per day is is bad.

Any watch having a label on it to tell you what the item is (like "LED WATCH") is making an assumption about the user, that they need to be told this else they might not realize it and become confused. As such, having the accurate time would be the least of your worries.

Anyway, I doubt a watch of this caliber will outlive the battery. You can't expect any degree of reasonable accuracy with such a time piece.

I want to make a decently priced jumbo LED number display for a sprint event, similar in size to a basketball scoreboard. But unfortunately, decent sized ones cost well over $1,000 and well out of my $50 budget. So I'm thinking of making my own display out of a lot of individual LED lights. You know how calculator and digital wristwatch displays have digits displayed using 7 segment numbers?I want to make a composite 7 segment display that can display 4 digits; s s:ms ms. The segments should be 30 LEDs in size. So does anyone even have the slightest clue to what I'm saying here? Most of my questions that I don't know the answer to can never be answered here.

    Demand your money back.

I'm thinking of doing the same with my $12 Timex 1440. I set it three months ago and it is now running 3 seconds fast. Can you believe that! What shoddy quality control!
