    Inside a vintage Seiko LC

This old Seiko O624-5009 had a fault when I bought it; when the watch warmed up on the wrist, various segments would break up and disappear. Cool the watch down, and the display returned to normal. Today I finally got around to repairing it. In case you ever wondered what's inside....:

These were really well built, and reasonable easy to service. Back in action:

    Cheers,
    Sherry.

Sherry, thank you for the excellent pictures! Can you tell us what you did to repair the display?

In this case, the LCD panel is sitting on top of the zebra-strip connectors on the module, and held in place by that curved metal frame. The panel had shifted or come slightly loose and wasn't making good contact; the repair just involved reseating the LCD panel properly on the zebra connectors, adding a little extra curve to the metal retaining frame, reassembling, and testing. Then reassembling the module back into the case. I'd never been inside an O624 before this, so working slowly the whole process took about an hour (including cleaning and refinishing the case).

Nice cat. I am a sucker for animal pics, being I am an animal lover with a cat too.

Adjusted to temperature! Sherry, would you know what is the technology this watch uses?

After reading the manual (thanks to Digital Watch Library), which says 32 768 hz quartz with +/- 10 seconds month at normal temperature but the manual don't say what normal temp is, the technical manual mentions one "Temperature Compensation Device" and the simplified diagram of how the watch works show one "Oscillation Regulating Device". As for technology I'm guessing pre twin quartz tech.

Would be fun if any one knew what the black box "TCD" / "ORD" actually is.
