    Pathfinder PAS400 series band change

I've got the bug to get one of the Casio Pathfinder PAS400 series watches. I like the size, price, and simplicity of this particular model. The only issue is the silly looking straps they come with. I can't quite tell by looking at the pictures. Can the strap be removed and the watch be but on a NATO or ZULU strap? If not, does anyone make an adapter or a plain black strap of some kind?

Thanks for any help with this.

Afraid I can't help with the band, I assume it would need an adapter by the looks of it.

I was seriously considering this Pathfinder a while ago, it has a huge array of features (moonphase, sunrise/set, vibration, auto-el, time memo, 5 alarms, 24hr stw) but the omission of one important feature; the count-down timer! It's also missing world-time, if you use that often.
If you end up buying one, please post photos :)

I've had one of these for a couple of years now. Really neat watch for it's price, the main feature I was looking for was the vibrating alarm but there's so many other useful ones such as sunrise-sunset and moon phases.
Regarding the strap, unfortunately, Casio made sure that nobody can replace these and there's no replacements anywhere except the original Casio ones of course which are priced at 2/3 of the watch price, but what to expect anyway in this price range of watches?
It's a fairly comfortable strap, albeit a bit too stiff.
Although I guess an adapter could be easily made, I guess financially it would not be worth it. The not-so-bright idea of Casio in this case was the put the leathery, more fragile parts right where it takes the most stress as you can see in the pictures below, the watch attaches to the strap via the two-thin portions of leather - which by the way is not leather but rather some kind of replacement. Mine is still OK though despite being in water a few times and also getting washed another couple of times. As you already know, canvas is quite a sweat-trap especially if you live in a hot climate and you do need to clean it now and then.
It would have been much better if this came on some kind of a rubber strap.

There are new similar "Fishing Timer" models out there though but I don't think they look as good and most are much smaller, at 38mm as well as lacking some functions, the most obvious being the vibration and the Auto EL illumination.
The AMW700B-1AV looks a bit nice but it's heavy being S/S as well as having the exact type of non-replaceable canvas strap. It's also missing vibration and Auto EL.

I put a 24 mm NATO on it and it works fine. Much better than the stock strap.

I have the same watch and really like it but the stock strap is not the best. Any chance you can offer some advice how you did it?

    TIA.

Are the G-Shock strap adapters (Casio part #74243710) useable for this modification?

No, but some Pathfinder adapters might work (maybe from a PAW-1300) or you could simply use the metal clip and fit the Nato strap through it but you'd probably need some spacers on both sides or the watch will slide from one side to the other.
