This is a bargain compared to a similarly equipped Grand Seiko Spring Drive Chronograph that can easily set you back USD $7,000- $8,000 From Seiya:

I think of the Ananta SD's as Grand Seikos sold at 50% off with full US Seiko warranty.

Wow $4700 is indeed a bargain from some of the prices I have seen.

I think the GS Spring drive chrono is in the $8000 area. I just bought a GS Spring drive GMT and it was over $5000..... it really made me gulp!

Although it's largely a matter of personal preference, and I acknowledge that they are easy and convenient to use, the pusher buttons are just too big for me. They look like mooring bollards on a big ship dock!

I find the sapphire bezel and touches of red on my GMT very satisfying, though of course there's no stop-watch function..... I suppose you can't have everything!

Wow, I'm out of the loop. I just discovered the Ananta line.

So to get the just, this appears to be an attempt by Seiko to market its higher end offerings, including the Spring Drive.

I'm thinking they are testing the waters for success for possibly launching the Grand Seiko line worldwide?? That would be awesome.

Stunning watch. I was wondering, did you consider the SPS009, with the black dial and black steel case on black gator strap? Why did you go with silver dial? I'm saving up, and am torn between the two dials: silver or black.

I prefer the metal bracelet and silver dial. But I must admit that the black dial is slightly easier to read, given the contrast with the silver hands.

Why does $4700 not sound like so much money anymore??? I was indifferent to the Spring Drive watches for a long time (although I appreciated the technology) but I was in the Tourneau store on 57th St today and saw that chrono and just went "YOW!!" Guess I'll be visiting Feldmar when I'm back in LA on Monday...

The full price to pay for mine. And had / have no problem with that. When I first saw this watch I was immediately sold. The money I was willing to pay, $ 6400 or € 5500. No Swiss watch comes near the quality. And the complications of this wristwatch in this price range.
