ORIENT "SK" NOS and HELLO !

Love the watch Reno! But what's the story with this Orient SK Crystal? There are a few vintage ones offered at ebay, but you can get the same watch brand new at Orient Automatik SK-Crystal 2EMAL001D6 - SK-Crystal - www.orientuhren.de . Is this the reissue? It looks exactly the same. How do you know you're getting a vintage? Especially when they are listed as NOS. And you can get these "NOS vintage" watches on ebay for as low as $39! Anybody care to explain?

If it's not new, it's certainly NOS


Mine clearly shows traces of age though (especially the hands & the dial, even if the overall quality is pretty good) but alas I can't provide any more information

I had this very dark brown RVC handmade strap… it was initially 24mm wide (for a PAM homage), but it didn't work on the watch it was initially destined, so it stayed in a drawer for a long time…

I sized it down to 22mm, then 18mm ! But it just didn't seem to fit on ANY watch !
I nearly throw it away…



But today, I wanted to give the SK a new look… I had the surprise to find out that the lug width is rather peculiar… it's NEARLY 18mm, but not exactly

The first strap I tried was much too compressed, it just doesn't look nice

I tried an old 17mm Tropic, but this time, a gap showed between the lugs


I then remembered the old butchered RVC strap

I tried it one more time, and… tadaaaaaa !!!!


































I'm glad I've kept this strap ; it works pretty good on this Orient

Orient re-issues « Yeoman's Weblog (Archive)

Seems to indicate that this watch is a re-issue of an earlier watch. The re-issue apparently has a curved left side. The re-issue seems also to be discontinued although some east European web sites are still selling it. Amazon Japan had it listed sometime before 2009.

I think I want this watch.

Few days ago found the model is 2EMAL001U. But all the online stores are sold out of this champagne color.
Found a couple on e-bay, but not enthralled with the seller's rep.

Tonight I found a BEMAL001U on Amazon. Confirmed its the same by looking at Russian websites.

Order one of the last 5. Hope they aren't returns - been burned once before with a 007.
