Per Myron's suggestion I added specifications for watches up through the Vantage. I also added information for custom options of individual watches that were available at the time of production.

    Myron,

I am happy to say that during my research for this project I have found the answer to your question in a piece of reference material from a helpful member here. The following is an excerpt from a post by Bill on the MWR forum dated October 4, 2004:

"Some may be wondering why I am calling this case the Quad10. The name is in reference to its 40mm diameter and its 10ATMs (100m) water resistance. Also the name is meant to allude to the watch case's all-terrain capability."

Amazing! I have searched for this for years. I have to admit that the name meaning is a bit anti-climactic. It seems like maybe the 4010 or the 410 or something similar might have been a better choice, although it sound a bit Sinn-ish.

Thanks for turning this up, Matthew. Of all my MkII's I believe this watch is my favorite.

Very nice, Matthew, well done. I know how hard it is to put something like this together and get the facts and time-line straight / correct.

You list 2005 - 2007 as the production period for the Quad10. This is not incorrect, but are you aware that there was a final series of 10 Quad10's announced in 2009 and built & shipped in 2010?

Ask me how I know .....
