    Help needed...

I dropped my Stingray (someone bumped into me while I was wearing the watch) and it landed on the crown. Now the crown and winding stem is stuck together. I have sent the watch to my local watch guy and he cannot get the crown and the stem to unlock without damaging one of the parts. I have tried to contact Mr. Yao for replacement parts but have not gotten a reply. I appreciate that he is busy but I would really like to be able to use my Stingray 50 again. Could anyone help me with how to contact Mr. Yao?

Sorry, can't help you but I wish you good luck contacting MKII.
Not speaking through personal experience, but I think that eventually you will get an answer.
If you did not try his e-mail yet, try that. the last time I've emailed, I got an answer from winnie
who assisted him, but that was about a year ago.
I think it was that e-mail: mkii.customer(at)gmail.com (replace (at) with @)
    or that one: orderstatus(at)mkiiwatches.com

Please keep this forum posted, I want to know what can be done if an MKII part is needed.
    Good luck

Have you tried contacting MKII through the Order Status portal on the MKII website? If you can get in you might be able to create a ticket and contact that way. Ooops - it looks like the whole MKII website might be down - I just tried it and received the error message. Maybe later.

I'm pretty sure that Jack Alexyon at International Watch Works (IWW) has a relationship with MKII and can get the parts he needs. IWW's got a great rep on these forums; I've used them many times myself and am extremely happy with the work.

    Re: Help needed...

Is the problem that the stem is jammed into the crown and can't be separated? Because I gotta think that the stem is pretty standard 2824 stuff, easily replaced by any watchmaker. But maybe your problem is that the stem is jammed in the movement? It just seems like a problem a good watchmaker could solve. I'd get a second opinion before I sent the watch to the US from Taiwan.

    Good luck and kind regards,

    Myron

Thank you all those who replied and thanks for the leads and help. MKII have contacted me and we are in the process of solving this.

    Myron,

Basically the stem tube is jammed into the crown. At the moment, if I unscrew the crown, the winding stem comes out of the watch case. My watch guy says that the crown is dented and it has jammed into the winding stem. I can unscrew the winding stem from the crown but the crown and the stem tube is stuck together. He has inspected the movement and it is ok.

This highlights a standing concern I have. Crowns and stems wear out. Crystals chip and crack. I don't think the issue of replacement parts has been adequately addressed for any of these timepieces.

Bill, I honestly think that you have an untapped market here. You could sell what basically amounts to the parts kit similar to the Kingston, but for each watch. Could be with or without bracelet and possibly even without the case. Very low work on your part aside from inspection of the parts.

I would probably buy two for each of my MKII watches if given the opportunity.
