    Status update about me...

sorry again. My home/office computer is on the fritz. The small problem I thought I fixed last week wasn't fixed. The office computers (knock on wood) are working fine. The computer that I use at home on the days that I have marked out for checking in on the forum had me chasing my tail for the last 10 days. Finally I bit the bullet and called HP's tech support......2.5 hours later (half of which was spent under my desk replacing and removing RAM cards) "we" finally figured out that one of the RAM cards was bad and part of the motherboard is bad. I have no idea how normal people would troubleshoot a HP computer since the tech support guy claimed that their onsite technicians can't diagnose problems only fix the identified ones.

Anywhooo computer is down and going back to HP some time next week. In the mean time I am back at the office finishing the other work that I didn't get to at home. I will be back online Thursday since I won't have to guess if the computer will work.

FWIW: I'm not very enthousiastic about HP desktop computers... Bought one late 2009, together with a MacBook Pro. Over the years, the HP went down three times., the Mac is still going strong (as said, knock on wood...). When it comes to replacing the HP, I'm sure my next desktop computer will be a Mac too.

I'm glad it doesn't affect your business! And it makes one aware to be very careful with storage data on the company's PC: a regular back up, and an external hard disk is very useful!

    Have a great day!

HP laptops are utter rubbish as well, so avoid those too when making your computing choices.

HP's are disposable PC's/Laptops. Cheap prices and I assume meant to be replaced every 18 months or so.

I build my home PC's and use highly rated parts. My last PC lasted 7 years and I just built a new one for less than $1000 with an SSD boot drive and 12 GB RAM.

I will never buy a pre-built PC but I have to admit I cannot build a laptop. That means research and a planned replacement at about 18 months.

They are what they are. When you can get one for a third of the price of a MAC there will be a market.

I believe they purchased COMPAQ and COMPAQ used to make some bad ass servers.

    CoughAppleCough.

That's what happens when HP's ex-CEO Hurd shacks up with mischief.

OK, just kidding. There's no correlation. Just a bad product.

No doubt about it. Apple makes an excellent product if you have a legitimate use for it as they are quite expensive relative to a PC. I have a Dell Desktop and Laptop both which are over 5 years old without any major issues. The laptop is 5 or 6 years and the desktop is probably close to 7-8 years.

Dont need an Apple for surfing the internet but it is nice that one doesnt have the viruses and malware concerns usually associated with surfing with a PC.

I can't justify it now, as ny office PC is only about 18 months old (Dell). However my next one will definitely be an Apple. I'nm tired of dealing with malware, viruses and spyware.Maybe this will be a real problem with Apple OS at some point, but right now it's not.
