    Tres Amigos

I got my GO Kingston yesterday, actually a day earlier than the USPS website said it would take. opened it up last evening, and it was too late for photos. I already have a C3 non date gilt dial/hands that has become my almost daily wearer. I really miss the date function, so I opted for a date dial on the GO. unfortunately, the Gilt C3 date dials were all spoken for by the time my turn came to order. i opted for the BWG9 (actually, that was my only choice !)

How do they compare. Well, I've been wearing the C3 non date for several months now, so the new one is a bit different. It's taking some getting used to the white BWG9 indices. Boy, they are white, really, really white. I do like the date feature, although I still believe that the date window sort of throws off the symmetry of the dial. It's really interesting, because I have a 16610 Submariner and a 16750 GMT , both have date windows and cyclops, and I never thought iof them as "unbalanced". I suppose after over 40 years of wearing Subs and GMT's, the mind gets that pattern imprinted, and it doesn't seem odd.I do like the watch, and from a practical standpoint, it has more utility with hte date function. Although many would argue that if you have a cell phone you don't need a date function. actually, witha cell phone, you don't even need the watch! For me, it's just a whole lot easier to glance down at my watch to see the time and date, rather than have to get my cell out and wake it up, just for the date, or time. I believe that both are definite keepers. Just too much value for the buck, and awfully hard to replace if you suddenly decide that selling was an incredibly bad idea, and you want one back.

Where does the Tres come in? I had to include my trusty old Stingray in the group as well.

Rather than hassle with the bracelet adjustment, I took it off and used an "aliasrichmond" bond strap. This one is his newer model, more tang holes, and more subdued colors, definitely not tending toward metallic looking like the original bands. Here are a few photos of my group of three.

Nice one Arthur! That configuration would have been my second choice. Personally I like the white on black date wheel you selected, but I can see that it could feel like the symmetry is a bit off. Still, that is how I would go.

    Very nice trio. Congratulations.
i can imagine it takes time to get the eyes retrained to look at something which is essentially the same but just slightly different. I can imagine the usefulness of the date function - my only thoughts on it are that it deviates slightly from the watch to which the Kingston is an homage to....anyway enjoy your trio

    Excellent trio, Arthur. BGW9 FTW!
Homage watches democratize history for the common wrist.

    Cheers! +james
