Back from vacation with Doxa photos including Island Time in Grand Cayman

My wife and daughter and I drove to Tampa, Florida (with a one night stop at Disney World) and took a 7 night cruise on the Carnival Legend to Cozumel (scuba diving), Belize (snorkeling on the barrier reef, amazing!), Roatan Honduras (snorkeled with dolphins, one of the coolest things I've ever done!), and Grand Cayman (Stingray City where we kissed giant rays!).

Here I am at the beginning of our drive on Day 1, wearing my Doxa SUB 1200T Professional Diving With Legends:

There's nothing more relaxing than watching the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea go by while reading Clive Cussler's latest on our stateroom's balcony:

    The DWL over the water:

I color coordinated my DWL and my SUB 1200T Pro NUMA:

My drink's umbrella matched the NUMA (it's a Miami Vice...half strawberry daquiri, half pina colada):

I hadn't set the time when I took this photo of my NUMA over the caribbean:

Another Miami Vice on another night (gee, I look like a drunkard but those were the only two drinks I had the whole trip...seriously!), but this time back wearing the DWL:

There were two "elegant dress" dinners during the cruise so I wore my vintage Doxa tank watch on those evenings:

In the ship's watch store, they sold Tags and Movados, and Tissots. The gentleman working the counter asked me about my DWL and I explained the Doxa history to him and he even held my watch. He was very impressed and said so. A couple nights later I stopped in wearing my NUMA and he thought it was really neat that I had both.

In Grand Cayman, Raj at Island Time commented on my Doxa DWL the second I walked into the store. I didn't know that Island Time carried Doxas. Raj really like the DWL and I wish I had my NUMA with me as he really wanted to see it. Here's a photo of Island Time's Doxa display (they had 1000T and 5000T SUBs for sale):

If any of you from Europe were planning a cruise to the caribbean, you could make sure the ship stops at Grand Cayman and Island Time is a 5 minute walk from the port. Buying a Doxa there would save on the VAT, right? I bet you could call Raj and have the watch you want waiting for you...just a thought. It was a real pleasure talking with him about Doxas and we all know how rare Doxa retailers are, right?

I wore my DWL while scuba diving in Cozumel. I switched between the DWL and the NUMA when snorkeling in Belize on the barrier reef and snorkeling with 26 dolphins in Honduras and getting kissed by stingrays in the Cayman Islands.

More photos to follow when I get my underwater camera pictures developed....

Excellent Steve, and I'm jeallous that you got Stingray City in! The one time I went to GC (Searaider '08, wow, it's been that long?!) we got weathered out for our planned trip to Stingray City. Looks like a great tie, thanks for sharing it with us!

PS: When we were there, Landmark Jewelers was the local DOXA AD- has there been a name change do you know, or has the AD changed?

ETA: No, the two are at different locations. Though they may be affiliated, I do not know.

T Bone, when I was in Grand Cayman a few years ago, Landmark carried Doxas at their main store, but not at their location right by the cruise port terminal. I did not see Landmark listed on the map of the stores.

Here's a shot after pulling up and dropping anchor at Stingray City:

Here's my wife and daughter and I petting a big ray:

And here's me kissing a really big, but soft and cuddly stingray:

I'm pretty sure this is Island Time's website: Island Time | Grand Cayman Shopping | Island Companies Ltd. Odd though that they don't list Doxa as one of their brands.

I picked up the CD with our Fuji disposable underwater camera (under $10) photos on it. They're far from the best, but you can't beat the price! Here I am about begin diving right off the shore in Cozumel, my Doxa SUB 1200T Professional Diving With Legends secured to my wrist:

Here's our 15 year old daughter Lauren (hmmmm, perhaps a SUB 200T Coraline is needed here):

    This photo catches my Doxa:

    Lauren and I:

    Me and some bubbles:

In Honduras, we went to dolphin snorkel excursion and it was amazing. We were able to snorkel with 26 dolphins. Gorgeous creatures! The instructor explained that the dolphins may come up to us with theirs mouths open like they're going to bite us. They think it's funny when people freak out and flail their arms and legs and panic and think they're going to be bitten. Then the dolphins keep doing it to entertain themselves. We were told to just turn our backs and they'll stop. As soon as I got out in the water, one came right up to my side with its mouth open wide and bumped me in the side. I thought, "This is what it would be like to be attacked by a shark." I just turned around and he tried to get me from the other side, but I turned again and he lost interest. I thought it was hilarious! One of the neatest things I've ever done in my life!

Here's an underwater photo of a stingray at Grand Cayman:

Here's a pic of my wife and our daughter snorkeling in Belize on the barrier reef. The water was just amazing. Calm and clear. We saw nurse shark sleeping in a coral cave, a pod of squid swam by, and some shrimp were scampering around the very abundant coral.
