DOXA noob, hunting for my first grail here. Question about 1200T

DOXA has been a dream watch for me ever since I first joined here at WUS last year. (yes, I am a total noob! ) Now I finally have decided to go for it. I am looking for 1200T sharkhunter, (small wrist) but seems so hard to find one pre-loved. My question is, I see quite a lot more for sale in searambler silver color on sales forum... and I do like the color on the photos, but why does it seem like so many people are trying to sell ONLY searambler?!?! I understand that, of course, signature color is pro orange, and looks like the next popular is black sharkhunter... but still does not make sense why there are overwhelmingly MUCH higher number of people selling searambler. I am such an impatient person, and tho I was originally trying to acquire sharkhunter, searambler is so tempting and it is so much more available... Any thought/advises?
    Thanks.

Re: DOXA noob, hunting for my first grail here. Question about 1200T

Honestly it only appears that way because you are looking for something different. Searamblers are always pretty rare as they are always produced in low numbers. You may actually be seeing the same one or two SR's getting flipped. The nature of Doxa's in the US means that, without the chance to try one on at an AD, they tend to get flipped pretty often. Folks buy them and then decide that they want a different size, or color, or maybe the style just doesn't work for them. It's part of the Doxa experience, for better or worse.

Now concerning 1200T Sharkhunters, I'm going to guess that the SH's are the least likely to get flipped. The black dials are the most conservative of the SUBs and I think that people tend to be more comfortable with them and therefor less likely to flip them. My suggestion would be to put a WTB (Want To Buy) post in that forum and be ready to go when you get contacted by a seller. Watch Recon is also a good tool but the SH's are going to sell quickly because of the reason's listed above.

Best of luck getting one, I'm sure that you'll have it on your wrist in no time. Welcome to the club.

    Regards,

I recently purchased my first Doxa off the forum. I was looking for a Sharkhunter or Searambler because I felt they would work best if I had to wear a suit etc. I pulled the trigger on a 750T Searambler and love it, I wouldn't go any smaller. As for Searamblers being made in limited numbers mines XXXX/5000. If I purchased one new I would still probably go for the Sharkhunter.

Size is a very subjective thing. I personally love my SUB 1200T Diving With Legends, I think the 1200 (and similar sized) cases have a certain bit of charm lacking in the larger sizes. Something about the curves and proportions that is "just right", just has that classic look to it, not completely shared by the larger watches. That said, I've got one vintage 300T, the 1200T and 4 750Ts (counting the GMT), so obviously I like them all. While to some one is too big, to others, the other too small, for me I guess I am lucky. I can highly appreciate both sizes as neither too large or too small (7.25 inch wrist if that makes a difference, and it may).

Your watch is a bit less common than you imagine BTW. Of the SUB 750T Searamblers, there are approximately 100 or so in existence. See this thread For DOXA's word on the subject.

Re: DOXA noob, hunting for my first grail here. Question about 1200T

T Bone, I think that OP has asked about 1200T SR not 750T. So, unless 1200T are all sold out already, I don't think we know the final number, do we?

Anyhow, like T Bone has said, most of Doxa non orange dial such as SR, Sharky, etc were produced in small numbers. Of course, I am only taking about the models that are sold out.

    Cheers

Edited: It seems T Bone's comment is toward a different poster and comment...oops So Mod, please delete if you see fit.

Your getting some good answers so far I feel the sharkie is a rare bird and I don't think I have seen a 1200 for sale on here in a long time if ever. I like the rambler because the silver dial makes it feel bigger than it is. I flipped a 1000t pro because the orange dial looked too small for me and that was solely my opinion. I've owned a TUSA and a 750 rambler as well. I think the sharkie and rambler are the best out of the 1200's and again thats just my opinion

Re: DOXA noob, hunting for my first grail here. Question about 1200T

Well, I just did a quick search on our Sales Corner (going back one year). I spotted 2 1200T Sharkhunters (one marked sold, the other, while probably not still available, was never bumped or marked sold, was listed Dec. 27). Also 1 1000T Sharkhunter and 2 1200T Searamblers. Seems none of these are coming up very commonly, but then DOXA is a popular, but not hugely prolific brand.

Of course there is always new, the 1200 is AFAK still readily available. Barring that, I'd suggest placing a WTB, searching the Sales Corner very regularly and being ready to act (with due caution as always) when you spot one.
    Regards, T Bone.

Re: DOXA noob, hunting for my first grail here. Question about 1200T

Thank you all for the kind responses. I have managed to snag a 750t Sharkhunter (white hands!?!) somehow over the weekend! I am a bit concerned about the size of the watch but I will just have to wait to see if this works out for me. My wrist is 6.5" btw. I have had some 45mm watches before and have not bonded well.. but hopefully this time is different.. ( since by design the dial is small-ish ) *crossing my fingers*

I also have a 6.5" wrist and my 750T Pro fits perfectly. My wrist is flat though so that could make a difference.

Great score on the white handed SH. I had a regular 750T SH that I sold to fund my Pro. I enjoyed it but always preferred the look of the all white hands. Enjoy yours.

Re: DOXA noob, hunting for my first grail here. Question about 1200T

Wow, when did the white Sharkie 750T came up over SC? I have been keeping my eyes pretty regularly! Anyhow, I have 6.75" and think 750T size is perfect for me. Your wrist shape will matter too. However, because of Doxa cushion case design, it wears smaller than its suggested diameter.

Wear it well and congratulations for grabbing a rare piece.

    Cheers
