    First Doxa

Sorry for asking about another watch brand in your forum. Someone suggested I get a classic orange Doxa for my first nice watch. Is that the Sub 5000T professional, nice looking watch but they are sold out on their webpage. :(

I am still reading the forums but am a little confused. Where are Doxas made, it says Swiss made on the dial but I have read that you can source parts from the far east and put them together in Switzerland and still put that on the dial. The website says every watch on their website is 100% hand assembled in Switzerland, why do they say assembled, not made? If the parts are assembled in Switzerland where are they made?

Are there any other models I should look into?

    Thanks for your consideration.

Check here for more infos on Sub models: DOXA REVIEWS
(From my own experience I can recommend the sold-out 600T. You can only get this pre-owned.)

I don't know where the parts of a Sub come from. I never read anywhere that they were produced in Switzerland.
It will be helpful if Doxa can confirm here where the parts come from.
The movements are proved to be 100% swiss made. This ETA-movements are very sturdy 'engines' coming from the Omega-group.
    Best Regards
    Holger

Thank you subpro, My only concern with getting pre owned would be availability of parts and ease of repair. It seems some other brands will send you a few links for free if you need to make the bracelet larger, can DOXA do the same?

A friend has a seiko skx781 and says its much better value, I like the reputation behind DOXA because it's been a long established brand with a cool history. I feel kind of silly saying that to him, other than the swiss guts is there anything else I can defend my preference?

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

WRT the SKX781 being a better value, it may well be. Depends on what exactly you are looking for. Around the Forums, that model is generally referred to by it's nickname, the "Orange Monster". I have the black dialed version (SKX 779, aka Black Monster) and wore it most of the last week (not my only Seiko, and that movement is built like a tank- but TBH, that watch doesn't get a lot of wrist time here). But yesterday, I switched to my DOXA Sharkhunter 750T on DOXA Bund leather strap. There simply is no comparing the two.

If you're happy with a mass produced orange faced dive watch with a tough automatic movement (non-winding and non-hacking though), the Orange Monster provides a lot of bang for the buck. It is not and never will be though, the equal of the DOXA in style, exclusivity, Swiss Craftsmanship and heritage. Price points can't compare. You can buy 10 or more Seiko's for the price of the DOXA. Worth it? That is only for you to decide (for yourself). We here who own DOXAs have already made that choice for ourselves.

I'm going to address something you raised in your second post (top of this thread ) one last time. You made a question as to the origins of DOXA, a rumor which simply won't be tolerated, as it is untrue and damaging to the brand. DOXA S.A. has responded to this rumor in the past, below I will quote their resaponse, and there will be no more discussion of this non-issue.

DOXA has posted this information many times before, and here again, if a watch brand messes with the "SWISS MADE" label policy, they are banned from using the label forever. Can someone please point DOXA or the FHS (Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH - Homepage) to a company that ever broke the policy.

    Thank you
    DOXA watches inc.
And let that be the end of that.
    Regards, T Bone.
