    My Doxa Sub 300T Professional

    Hello All,

I have owned my Sub 300T since about 1973. I purchased it from US Divers Co, when I became
the manager of New England Divers in Miami Fl, USA.
It was with me on my first bounce dive to 110 ft, off Fowey Light. (Miami). I have never used anything else while diving.
I still wear it a lot and it keeps good time. I have a broken spring in one of the bracelet expanders.
It is a zigzag stainless spring. I was thinking of fabricating one from spring wire. It would be a lot easier if I could find one
or something to substitute for it.
My Sub 300T reminds me of a large part of my life's adventures, and I would sure like to repair it.

    This is a great forum.

    Best Regards,
    Dave E

    Welcome Dave!

OK, very kewl ... most of us will never see an original 300T, and you bought one brand-new and then used it as it was intended! Outstanding! I can't help with the bracelet spring issue, but I would love to see some pics, if you are of a mind to share.

    Cheers!
    Bill

    Hi Dave,

it's nice to have an original 300T with its first owner here. There's always a continious personal history behind this watches.
Pics of your Sub are highly appreciated.

Sourcing a single original extension link is nearly impossible.
But those links were very common in the old days so it should be possible to find a fitting spring even from another brand.
Ask local watchmakers around perhaps someone has old parts in stock to check.

If you are skilled enough and you have the perfect wire you can make such a spring in do-it-yourself way (you self mentioned it).
Perhaps the easiest and cheapest way of all.

Anyway don't replace the original bor-band for the reason of a broken spring!!! Keep it complete and original !!!

New England Divers on South Dixie Highway, just north of Shorty's Bar-B-Que? That was the best dive store in south Florida.

    I still miss it..

    Dave,

Thanks for sharing your story. Allow me to make another suggestion, how about using the Doxa rubber dive strap or a nato/zulu strap. I appreciate the familiarity of the BOR, but these might be a good option assuming the spring repair isn't secure. I wouldn't want to hear you lost that treasure. Also, the modern Doxa 600 bracelet fits the old 300s. The BOR aren't real, but it is close and again more secure than a home repair.

Great piece of history you have there. One of the members here, Bernie, has restored these bracelets for other members. See this thread USD SUB 300T Sharkhunter and this one http://forums.watchuseek.com/f34/nee...st2640623.html Hopefully he'll be along shortly, and can offer some help.

How are those pics coming along?

Dave, I just checked my parts box and I have a link from a Rolex 7206 expanding bracelet. It contains a "z" spring inside. If all else fails (and I mean all) let me know and I'll send it to you. You can pry open the folded middle piece and extract the spring without a lot of trouble.
