No help from Doxa on vintage Nymph 200 gaskets/seals

My watchmaker is servicing my wife's vintage Nymph 200 but has been turned down by Doxa on receiving gaskets/seals for the service. I'm surprised by this as most of the other watchmakers offer these basic normal service items. More surprising is that the Nymph is actually now back in production using old stock parts. Was my watchmaker mistaken or didn't contact the right department?
Could early Heuer chronos be any cooler?

I would suggest that you contact Doxa Customer Service to get this question answered. They would be in the best position to comment on company policy.

Seals for vintage DOXA's have been problematic to locate for some time. WRT the newer produced Ladies DOXA's, I can't recall for certain, but am not sure they were 100% new old stock parts. Some parts may have indeed been of recent manufacture (again, I am uncertain, just from the back of my mind). And even if they were all NOS, that doesn't mean the parts are of unlimited supply (not trying to defend DOXA unquestioningly here, just suggesting there may be a very real reason they will not, perhaps cannot supply the gaskets you need).

I would suggest doing as Rusty suggests above. If that does not help, my next stop would be Jack Alexyon at IWW. He may have a source or simply know where to look. These watches were never common to begin with. Not sure such a seal will be easy to find. But if it can be, Jack is probably the Man for the job.

Thanks for the responses, I did email them and am interested to see how attentive they are to the vintage owner's needs. I also collect vintage Omegas and Heuers and am pretty impressed by how much these companies see the marketing strategy in keeping basics available for the vintage watches. Heuer especially saw the potential of rising prices of vintage Heuer in drawing attention to their re-editions. Every time people comment ''I saw a blue-faced original Monaco sell at auction for $15,000!'', it directly impacts their current sales of Monaco re-editions. I'm amazed about how little of a premium, if any, vintage Doxas have over the re-editions in today's market. That will probably end one day and factory help is pretty key in keeping the older watches in collectible condition. I would think they have a vested interest in keeping what little is out there in the best shape possible.

    Hi,

Got your email and live chat. I am checking with the head office on this. The problem is that on the new/vintage SUB200 we have, the NOS cases were re-machined to accept new modern parts and the seals may not be the same. I will email you as soon as I hear back from the factory on this.

    Cheers,

To further expound on the differences, DOXA changed hands several times back in the days of the original vintage SUBS, the current owners acquired very little in the way of stocks of old parts AFAIK. On top of that, vintage SUBS though looking similar, actually went through a number of specification changes over those years also. As an example, there are at least 3 different bezels for the vintage SUBS, and they are not interchangeable. Crowns changed also. And I am sure other parts did as well.
    Regards, T Bone.

Jack IWW has done several vintage 300 rebuilds for me in the past, and gasket availability was always a problem.

I'm pretty sure that Doxa indicated some years ago on this forum that they would make new parts for the vintage Subs if the availability of vintage or NOS parts continued to be problematic. However, this seems to have hit the buffers as nobody mentions this any more.
