Recommendation for Third Party Doxa Repair?

    Morning everyone,

For those that follow the Dive Watch Forum's WRUW threads, you may already know that my 750T has a little "Crown Separation Anxiety". Yep, it just came right out.

I contacted Doxa and they responded that they could certainly do the work in the states () but they were so swamped with restorations that they might not be able to take mine for a few months (). They did suggest however that, should I have a competently trained Swiss watch repair person, they would sell me any parts I might need to repair the watch.

Now, I have had some work done by some of the great guys on the forums, but it has so far been limited to crystal replacement, case polishing and the like. If they are going to be digging around in the guts of my 750, I'd like it to be someone who has seen the inside of a Doxa more than twice.

Has anyone used someone in particular for Doxa work before? I was going to have some cosmetic work done as well, but really want someone who could return the movement to working order, maybe give it a thorough service, ect.

If I can find no one that comes recommended here, I'm inclined to wait. I would hate to leave my 750 in the watch box for several months awaiting repair, but would hate even worse to subject it to shoddy work.

As always thanks for the responses!

No affiliation, just a very satisfied customer. I highly recommend Al Jenskey from Archer Watches (www.archerwatches.com). I just had my 600T serviced & coincidently, crown replaced. Al completed the work FAST & I couldn't be happier. He's with you every step of the way & answers his emails very fast. With my service, he sent a cd with a 50 page report of the work from start to finish (tons of crystal clear pictures for those of us who might be challenged with technical write ups!). I had to wait about 10 extra days because of the delivery time of the crown from Doxa, but it was well worth it. You might be in luck because I think Al ordered extra crowns when he ordered mine, so, depending on how busy he is, you might be very surprised at how fast the work can be done. Drop him a line & see what he says; I don't think you'll be disappointed. I'm sure you'll hear the same about Al from others. Good luck & let us know how it turns out. Oh yeah, don't forget he can't do anything about the price of parts from Doxa, but I think you'll find his labor costs are more than fair.

Thanks Snowback! I'll drop him a line. I know it's a standard ETA movement, but I've had almost 100% bad experiences locally. Jack at IWW and Yobokies have both been great, but I just don't know yet if they work on Doxas. It sounds like Al knows his way around them.

I'll post a report as the process moves along.

Jack at IWW is very familiar with Doxa's. May not be very quick.

Thanks for the reference Snowback....I need to have my bezel replaced on my Doxa 750T Pro and have been looking for a shop that can handle the press fit bezel. I'll give Al a call and see if he can handle the job.

I will also put in a good word for Al at Archer Watches. He fixed my 600T when it wouldn't stay running. Price was very fair and he completed the work very quickly. The CD of the repair is a great bonus and not one that you will probably get from any other repair person.

You could call Andy at customer service and get the phone number for the Doxa auth. serv. center in the states. I think he told me it was in California.

Thanks nerve, actually it was the US service center in LA that has the back log. A few months they said. It was customer service that said that they would provide the parts if I had a good watchmaker in mind.

Doxa's quote to fix my watch was almost twice the price I got it fixed for through Al.
