    Replacing a sub bezel

I'm looking to change over a bezel off a sub 1000 onto a sub 1200 as the 1200 original bezel is worn. I have two questions, first are they interchangeable and second is it an easy job? Any help would be most welcome.
    Thanks

Way beyond my skill level. I still get a bit nervous changing straps.

    Best of luck though.

My understanding is that the bezels can only be replaced by Doxa - that they require a specialized tool.

    Re: Replacing a sub bezel

Many years ago, I believe DOXA said that if you try to pry the bezel off, you would destroy it. But there was no info beyond that, and maybe it was stated to preserve the warranty versus whether it could actually be done or not.

But then I believe I have read one or two reports of people replacing their own bezels, which I assume is like any other watch - you pop the bezel off with a scalloped blade like a caseback pry. Not sure if the 1000 can be swapped onto a 1200 though, if they are not the same size.

So it is really at your own risk.

I recall the cases may be a bit different, so the bezels may not be interchangable. the 1200T is a current design so Doxa will have spare bezels.

I don't believe you can change a "modern" bezel on your own. I have had a few excellent watch makers try to get my 600 bezel off (and they have the tools) and have sent the watch back. Apparently only Doxa has the secret tool to remove bezels.

    Re: Replacing a sub bezel

Not sure what the correct tool is, but am pretty sure it is more than the standard knife of old. DOXA has always maintained on the board that one would destroy (was it the bezel, or the case??) in trying to remove it without whatever specialized tool is required (they've never shared just what that tool is).

On top of that, it is very unlikely that the two bezels from a 1000T and a 1200T are interchangeable. I suppose it is possible (but then you'd be left with a worn bezel on the 1000T?). DOXA themselves would be the best to answer this question.

No doubt spare bezels are available for the 1200T, probably also the 1000T and several others. Wouldn't surprise me if they still had some for the 750T as well.
    Regards, T Bone.

Ok thanks, I'll more than likely drop it in to my local watch repairer and let him do it. It can't be any different to taking off and changing a bezel on a Rolex Submariner.

While I suspect it can be, I'll be interested in seeing what you find out. I recall only one Member to have claimed to have done it themselves here, and when asked for details, he clammed up and did not answer.
