Vintage Beads of Rice bracelet: How did it work?

Looking to dip my toes in the vintage market for Subs and I've never seen much mentioned on how the vintage bracelets worked. I know there are extenders, and springs involved and have heard they did not last the watches they came with. Just has me curious, anyone with a video or link to one that demonstrates how they functioned for diving?

The clasp had a ratcheting mechanism in it that was released when the clasp opened. When you closed the clasp, you could ratchet it tighter, in a similar fashion to the 1500T bracelet. On either side of the clasp were two square links, that had flat springs in them. They would allow the bracelet to stretch and then rebound to the original position. For diving, you would place the bracelet on the outside of the wetsuit, and adjust the ratcheting clap tight enough so that the spring loaded links stretched. That way, as the suit compressed with depth, the spring loaded links would contract, taking up the slack of the now compressed suit.

I have one, but it'll be a week before I can get back to it, otherwise I would just show it.
