Hi Everyone,
As you know I have become a little obsessed with vintage Doxa's and have spent a lot of time and money gathering my collection.and now I want to give one away
With the very kind permission of DOXA they have allowed me to use the forum to do this.
Dispatches on UK Channel 4 aired a program recently :-

The documentary was about children in Nigeria being branded witches and wizzards and it broke my heart (I have a three year old daughter). I am not afraid of admitting my wife and I cried throughout it and I have not been able to stop thinking about it since, some of the suffering these children go through is unimaginable. There is however a charity run by a guy in the UK that decided to get involved and help these kids.

I think I've become a little lost in my life recently with all my selfish wants, needs and must have's and instead I want to make a small difference and to this end I am going to donate my Vintage Doxa Nymph to make as much for the charity as possible. Some people believe charity should begin at home but these children are innocent, (as all children are) and have no one else to help them and there are many more charities around the world serving a very many causes but as this one concentrates on these children this is why I would like to help it. Basically I'm just a father that wants to make a donation to help children caught up in a horrible situation , not of their own making, half way around the world.
I was trying to sell the Nymph privately initially and then I thought I could put it on the bay to raise a donation but I thought instead perhaps if I ran a sort of lottery where you could enter for say a $25 donation along with a miniumum number of participants over a specified period of time then I could possibly make more money for the charity than a straight sale and involve all you people on the forum as well. I thought a lottery would help spread the money through the comunity rather than one person winning perhaps an auction.
Basically I would like to see if there are enough people interested by carrying out this poll. If you have any ideas/comments on how I should carry the Lottery out please just let me know
I will try to make everything as transparent as possible so that you can all see the money raised reaching the charity and no one else's pockets.
Finally, I have not contacted the Charity about this yet as I do not want to raise their hopes until I actually start the ball rolling with a Lottery or Auction.
Cheers
Simon
Ooooooops , nearly forgot, the Nymph has just been serviced and regulated and comes complete with a bracelet. Its not waterproof as the stem seal is missing but who would dare put a vintage DOXA within 50 feet of waterIts in pretty good condition but with a bit of WABBI you would expect from a watch of its age
:thanks
