It is hot out there and I'm not scheduled to dive this week end ( big mistake thou ) so since I'll have the top down on my Boxster these days and racing around I got out my Coppa Milano. What a classy watch.
Enjoy,
Michael

It certainly is. I've only seen a few pics of that one.
I know that it is a long shot but I would love to see Doxa put out more watches like this for the Western market. Of course, I am probably not the best one for the decision makers at Doxa to listen to as my budget is pretty limited and I am continually sidetracked by variations in the SUB lineup, haha. I really like the looks of the Ultraspeed and the CM so will, one day, hopefully have one on of the two in my collection.
Enjoy yours,

Actually, the Coppa was an early release (in terms of Reissue SUBs) limited edition watch for the Western World. Powered by a Valjoux 7750, and like the UltraSpeed was a tribute to an auto race. Can't remember how many were made but the number 250 is sticking in my head for some reason (betting Michael will know). And they were a bargain too, can't recall how low, but not terribly expensive at all. Just saw one go on eBay a few weeks back for around $800. They don't come up often!
Great stuff in this thread guys, keep 'em coming!
T-Bone you're partially right. The movement in the Coppa is a 40 jewel Lemania 283. This movement is based on an ETA 2892 with a Dubois Depraz Chronograph module which was developed by Dubois Depraz for Audemars Piguet. The same Lemania movement is used in chronographs, like the Girard Perregaux 280 and the Paul Picot Chrono. The Dubois Depraz chrono module is used in the Audermars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore and Glashütte Chronograph.
And you're right about the Limited Series of 250 pieces made. What is interesting is the fact that about 180 of them were given to the racers and the rest were sold on the DOXA site. Mine used to belong to an Italian driver of car nr 70 ( a vintage Mercedes 190 ). I can't recall the guys name right now but I have it noted someplace in my archive notes.

Actually, that one was sold out I think before I even started hanging at the DOXA Forum regularly. And I started sometime around the introduction of the first 750T's (The Caribbean, limited edition of 250). The Coppas were sold out a bit before or after those I think. I only got to know the watch because of Doc Pete's posts about it (he had one IIRC, and was quite fond of it). We're talking maybe 2004-ish. Definitely not later. Maybe earlier.
Today (Friday) I went with my near-vintage quartz Heuer Diver. There's something about this early 1980's beat up, bracelet-less, , smaller than I normally wear, quartz watch that I really love. It was bought on a whim for a more than fair price and it is a keeper.
Tomorrow, I'm going back to orange. My rotation tends go go something like...Doxa 750T Pro, Helson Sharkmaster 1000, Doxa 750T Pro, Boschett CDII, Doxa 750T Pro, Crepas Tactico TC1, Doxa 750T Pro, Heuer, Doxa 750T Pro, etc.
I've not worn the 750T Pro in a few days so I need to break it out before withdrawal sets in, haha.
