Re: Who Wants to Design Your Own LE Sinn?

    SMSgt Bo,

So does that mean an all lumed dial is out? Or only that if we go that way we have to differentiate ourselves more?

If we used the U2 hands (but now GMT function), non-PVD and blue hands and accents and the moved bezel, would that be different enough?
Very few tasks cannot be accomplished with orders that end in the words "... or die trying."

I'm really glad I saw this post and I may be in once I get a better idea as to the finished product.

    - White, fully lumed dial
    - U2 hands (blued or coppered - I know Stowa will use them on special projects but i'm not sure what the costs/difficulties associated w/ coppered is)
    - Navy or Brown rubber strap depending on the hands choice
    - If standard U2 hands are used simply have them colored either blue or copper

I feel like the white, fully lumed face w/ U2 styled blued hands/indices with a navy Sinn rubber strap w/ deployant would be absolutely

Switch the blued/navy for copper and it would be equally badass.

Re: Who Wants to Design Your Own LE Sinn?

I think it should be decided if we want to start with a white lume dial and build up from there or head in another direction.

First we need confirmation that we CAN use a white lumed dial since it has already been done on another LE...then we need to make a personal choice if we're comfortable using such a dial as it could be viewed as a copy cat idea (I know it's not, but you know how the forum chatter gets). Does anyone have examples of a watch with a fully lumed dial other than white?? Might be interesting to see the finished result. I'd like to use another color but they all seem very pastel.

Once we get either a yeah or nay on the use of a lumed dial there are two ways to proceed. The first is we can start voting through polls on each aspect of the watch until a completed idea is formed. Start with the dial, then hand design, then hand color etc. etc. so the finished is a totally group project. Along the way as things change various aspects can be tweeked and re-voted creating an organic process.

The other way to go is just start tossing out a "wish list" of completed styles, making some rough mock ups of the favorites and then opening the final list of these designs up to a vote.

Whatever the case I'm definitely convinced we can do better

    What are everyone's thoughts??

This is not just a WUS project, this is a project where we need to create something the TZ guys will envy!
Any of you guys are artists/designers or generally have knowledge about colour combinations etc???
Guys, I will pitch whatever you all collectivly come up with to Sinn and see if they can do it and at a reasonable price. Of course, Ernie has the final approval authority since his name goes on every watch, so to speak.

For the record, I think heat blued, copper or any other metallic hands will look out of place on a tool watch like the U1...I'm just sayin'.

    also

if we get a no on using a lumed dial we could still do a white non lumed dial with a nice smooth gloss finish. This would allow any color lumed hands we wished (blue, orange, red etc. etc.) and make a nice tool diver with a bit of dressiness.

I thought it had but maybe I'm wrong. If it's not then I don't think it's an issue if we do a lumed dial.

Sinn said we can do a white lumed dial as long as it is not a clone of what we now know as the TZ U1. If you look earlier in this thread you'll see some green lumed dials that look IMHO pretty putrid. I pitched the idea of a "stealth" (grey) lumed dial with solid white, red or blue hands and indices and Sinn said it was very possible.

We will set up polls once Ernie returns and creates a WUS LE Sinn U1 sub-forum just for this project.

As I mentioned earlier, this thread is the initial brainstorming session from which we'll develop the wish list to base our future polls on.

I have no doubt with the creative and passionate Sinners we have here that we'll make one heck of a cool tool watch together!
