    New-to-me Arctic Diver running fast-magnetized?

I just picked up a user Arctic Diver a few days ago, and after setting it I've been keeping an eye on its accuracy. Right now it seems to be running abou
+10 seconds/day, although I only really have 3 days worth of data. I was wondering if it might be magnetized. I'm guessing (hoping) that if that's the case it's a cheap/easy fix, but my other question is: if it IS magnetized, does a watchmaker need to remove the case back to fix it?

The reason I ask is I have a local guy who's very good, but he generally tries to stay away fr
anything his store doesn't normally sell or service. Thanks!

10 second a day is petty good, if it was magnetized , it will be more like 10+ minutes a day.

When a watch is in the range of 30-90 s/day fast I tend to think the
movement could be "magnetized". However, this is not a digital thing.
I guess a watch that changes to +10 s/day could be magnetized a
little bit. I expect it will be difficult to know the cause of running
    fast without trying some remedies.

It might be worth getting your own demagnetizer to try for effect.
According to Kobold, the Arctic Diver has an "inner case made from
soft iron (cylinder, back plate, dial plate)". That sounds like a
magnetic shield. Nominally the case back should come off and the
inner shield back plate lifted out before demagnetizing the
escapement, but the shield should also be demagnetized separately.
It would be all right try demagnetizing the watch with the case back
and shield in place to see if it works well enough. If it does not then
remove the case back and back plate and try it again.

If you decide to try this let us know how it turns out.

    Thanks,

Thanks for the replies...this is the most "off" watch I've had in recent memory (with the exception of a Breitling running at -15, but it was 11 years old and needed to be serviced) so I'm not used to this type of inaccuracy. I'll have my watch guy throw it on his timer and see what it says.

Well, fortunately it's settled down a bit (maybe +8 sec/day now) so I haven't done anything about it yet. But I must say I'm a bit disappointed in the company-I had emailed them about the availability of a bracelet, and their "VP" (if there's so few employees I chuckle at those titles sometimes) was more than responsive to all my questions. However, he has ignored several emails and I've gotten 0 response in over a week after asking if anything could be done to correct this and another issue I've found.

Was really hoping to get a little bit better responsiveness. I realize it's a "small company" yada yada, but like I said, when I was entertaining spending money, he was hitting me back within minutes sometimes. Sigh.

Issues with KWC made me loose my interest in their watches. I think a company that prides itself to be high-end (at least in terms of prices) should deal differently with their customers. But I know that there are other members here who made completely different experiences with their CS..so, mayeb it depends on how much money they can expect from you..

Could be...like I said, it was very strange. I emailed them asking about buying one of the new AD bracelets. Their VP of Operations emailed me back right away, and exchanged 3-4 emails with me throughout the day. Several days later I emailed about an issue I've found with the watch, and asking if they would extend me a slight grace period in the warranty (and even if they wouldn't, if they would kindly give me some options). Since then (and 2 subsequent emails) I've gotten nothing in return. I really hate to email the owner, but all I want at this point is for them to tell me if they're willing to work with me or not, since if they say no, while I'll be disappointed I'll just find someone else to do the work.

KWC called me yesterday and I didn't get back to them. 24hrs later I get a reminder email.

That makes me a crappy customer.

Called back and spoke to the aforementioned VP on the phone, since he answered. Call him.

I'm not sure if that was intended to say I was being too pushy or needy with them or not...but in my case I've been nothing but polite, and I actually waited 7 days before sending a "reminder" email. So I don't think I'm being unreasonable with expecting some sort of response after that much time has gone by.

If that wasn't directed at me in that way I apologize, but again I couldn't really make out the tone of your message.

It was directed at the poster who slams CS. Not you. It had a smiley face - that usually gives a clue to the intent. But since you got your knickers in a twist over this, call them. That part of the message was for you. I have heard that emails do get lost, undelivered and sometimes they get accidentally deleted or even go into spam filters - some people have balckberries and they disappear for days. If they don't answer or hang up on you, then you are being blown off and you should sell all your Kobolds.
