I can't speak to your particular issue, however I will tell you that this is 100% abnormal. My GST Aquatimer has one of the most precise bracelet release buttons I've ever experience. I suspect that your thoughts on the spring going soft has merit. Consider contacting your local AD or the manufacturer. I'm sure they can get it sorted out in short order.

Also, how tightly do you wear your bracelet? If you wear it extremely tight, that might have caused the issue.
    WTB - nothing for now!

    I had a similar issue.
Keep in mind I wear my 12yo ti aquatimer 24/7, and take a shower at least once a day.
I noticed that soap accumulates on the inside of the bracelet and especially in the recessed areas, particularly in the release button, to the point of preventing the proper sliding back into position that closes the clasp.
I need to periodically clean it from the soap.
    Could this be your case?
