IWC vintage watches and ebay

Hello everyone,

I've been browsing some watches over in ebay the past week or so. I saw a few vintage watches supposedly dating from the early 1900's with original movements but with a modern case. As I kept browsing, I noticed that all these watches are from either Poland or Ukraine. My question is, are these countries somehow loaded with vintage IWC movements, or is there some funny business going on?

I know that I may be jumping into conclusions here, but I just wanted to do my research before placing a bid on these watches.

On a side note, I do understand that its my risk to take if I buy from ebay.

I was looking at the same stuff last night. What I realized was that I don't know squat about buying vintage watches... redials, movement alterations, acceptable patinas, etc. A lot of those pre-1940's watches looked way to "new" to be original. Does anyone know of resources for starting to get educated on vintage watches and what to look for so as not to get scammed?
