Never thought I'd be posting in this forum....

...until I was able to build a giant laser and hold the world ransom for 1 billion dollars.

Seriously though, I stumbled across this piece and was wondering if:

    A) Most importantly, is it real? I'm honestly not sure how I feel about opening something like this up...

    B) Tell me about the watch, it's vintage and gold looking and says "International Watch Co Schaffhausen".

Here's some quick and dirty pics:

Amazingly it started ticking right when I picked it up. The crown has green around the stem which looks like the oxidation on an old penny. It does not hack but it hand winds. It ticks marvelously when held up to the ear, and it is very very light for an automatic. It also has a distinct "click" when you turn the crown to wind it. I'm not entirely sure if that is normal so I didn't do it much (also I was met with a bit of resistance).

Don't know a thing about it, I'm sure someone will. Sweet looking watch though!

Looks like a cal. 89. Nice watches.
Need serial number from movement, which requires opening caseback.
I would have it serviced before wearing. (some) Parts for this cal. are becoming difficult to obtain. (Took me forever to locate a central seconds pinyon).
