I absolutely agree. However, I've never really gone above 46mm on any of my ex or current watches.

The outer lug to lug width is 54 mm, from spring bar to spring bar it's about 51 mm.

My wrist is a tad below 7 inch and I am very happy with my BP. Here is a wrist shot:

    Kind regards,

Thanks for that information, Cinq; it looks great on your wrist! When I get some spare time, I am going to have to try the BP on my own wrist.

The BP is one of the few watches that can look good on any wrist! It is the BIG Pilot, it should be big ;) At 6.7", I think I have fairly small wrists. There are some 44mm I think I can wear, like the IWC Aquatimer, but I prefer watches that are 42mm or smaller. I used to love big watches, I've had a Planet Ocean 45.5mm. I still like the PO, but if I would buy one now, it would be the 42mm version.

I might have to try the BP for myself. When I was shopping around for my PO, like most buyers, I was torn between the 42mm and 45.5mm. On bracelet, the 45.5 is just too big on my wrist. I ended up with the 42 and very happy with it. I recently tried on the 45.5 again, with the rubber strap this time, and to my surprise, it fits well.

Re: What's the beef with size?

I have various sizes from the 39.2mm to 45.5mm currently. IMO, I have a fairly large wrist ie about 8 inch and I find that the fittings of the entire collection is fine by me as each watches have its own distinct wearability. I do rotate the watches around and the only concern is the weight. I need to constantly remind myself that the smaller size watch is on the wrist as compared with the bigger ones.

    my 2 cents

    cheers
