Just curious why so many people comment negatively about watch sizes increasing? Inquiring minds want to know. Thx

People's wrist sizes vary quite a bit...
Larger watches can be uncomfortable in how they sit on the wrist. They also can be difficult to fit under a sleeve. My IWC is 43.5 mm case diameter and 45.5 mm bezel diameter. I personally prefer most of my watches between 37-42 mm.
Besides wrist sizes, some people may not like brands changing a classic design. Personally, despite my smaller wrist size, I prefer watches in the 41mm to 42mm range. For me, anything under 40mm is too small and anything over 44mm is too large. That's just me... to each, his own.

OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Ω 145.022
OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean 2201.50
OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Panda 3570.50
While I don't dislike larger sized watches per se, having a 6 1/2 inch wrist, my options are limited. I've tried them on, and they don't feel or look right on me. I do not begrudge someone who can wear one well, but sometimes it can look a little excessive. I prefer a more discreet and comfortable watch, and a good example can be seen in the pictures above with iim7v7im7's post. I have seen three of the models pictured in person, the exception being the Chronoswiss; and the Jaeger RDM, at 37mm, wears well, is discreet, and exudes class. And, as a side note, my local AD has told me that the reason JLC has not increased its size is because it continues to be their best seller. Granted, it leans more toward a dress watch, but even the iconic Rolex sub, a classic diver, has remained at or under 40mm. Bottom line is always... "to each his own", I just lament the ever decreasing options for those of us who still prefer a moderate sized watch.
I'm a little biased being 6'5". Have had the opposite problem my whole life. :)
I like the variety personally. But I can also see how the larger watches may be a bit gaudy to some.
The same story, as always: wearing comfort and the looks do not depend on size only. It is balance, weight, case height, lug size and angle, and so on. Two of my most often worn watches, the Breilting Chrono Superocean and the IWC Aquatimer Chrono 2010 Cousteau Edition, both on bracelet. Weights are exactly the same at 200 grams. Breitling is 42 mm and has a case weight of a bit over 17 mm, while the AT has a case diameter 43.5 mm with a bezel 45.5 mm, case height 15.4 mm (both including domed crystal). Wearing comfort is way better at the IWC and the steep lugs do not extend over my 6.75" wrist - just a miracle how IWC could make such a good fit of a watch of this size.
Just my two cents.
Best, Robert
easy answer, not everyone wants to look like Flava Flav with a big watch on. also not everyone (including myself) want to show off their watch. I have nothing to prove and it isn't a status thing for me but the watch brings personal satisfaction. so I would rather have my watch under my shirt sleeve.
I know I've said it before but I really like that Cousteau!I agree with Robertus that the AT is a nice-wearing 44mm piece.
As much as I love the Big Pilot, I don't think I could swing a 46mm watch, but it is a stunner. I'd probably have to try it at my local AD just to be sure, but from the specs alone it's likely beyond my comfort zone. Just out of curiosity, anyone know the lug-to-lug on the BP?

i don't complain about What everyone wears. whether a 34mm of 60mm (Egiziano). i believe that People should wear what THEY Fell Most Comfortable on THEIR Wrist.
Size is a Question of Taste. that's all.
so in short. i don't understand How Some People waste their Time Bit**ing about what Others are Wearing ?!! .
Cheers
