Will the Portofino 8-Days look funny on my wrist?

Hi all - This is my first post in the WUS Forums. I am close to purchasing the Portofino 8-Days (Silver Dial), but am a little concerned about the size of the watch on my wrist. I tried it on at an AD and it seemed fine, but after I started doing some research, I don't know if it would look funny on my small wrist which I believe to be barely 6". I plan to wear this watch strictly with formal wear and occasionally at the office, so it won't be an everyday watch by any means.

I've always worn larger sized watches and never gave it much thought before as I was always able to use the regular strap that came with the watch at the next to last hole. However, I'm not sure if the Portofino would look odd in the non-casual settings I plan to wear it in. I considered the Portoguese 7-Day as well, but I just don't want to spend $2k more on that watch as I'm already stretching the budget to get the 8-days.

I've attached some wrist shots of my LW 3-Timer and PAM 90 (on a steel strap). I feel totally comfortable with these and actually prefer the weight over thinner watches like the JLC Moon Ultra-Thin.

I'd appreciate your thoughts.

If you are comfortable with it, Don't worry about it. IWC makes shorter length straps (which they designate XS). Order your watch with that strap and enjoy it. In my opinion, the diameter of the watch is much less important than the lug-to-lug length.

What is the size of that PAM? As long as the 8-day is not dramatically bigger than that, I think you're fine.

Thanks for the replies CH-dmath and gouverneur... The PAM is 44mm and the 45mm Eight-Days didn't look that much bigger when I went and tried it on again today. Perhaps because of the silver dial, smaller lugs or less thickness. However, while I thought the Portofino looked great and was not too big, I decided to give in and go with the Portuguese 7-Days instead becase it just felt right for reasons I have yet to determine. I've attached a couple of pics, but will post some better ones when I get a chance. Thanks again for your input. These forums have been extremely helpful.

Congratulations! The 5001 is on my wish list -- it's absolutely gorgeous. Enjoy it. (I haven't tried one on yet because I'm afraid of what will happen if I do.)
